I saw a post recently on gutterchan that really resonated with me recently.
Why has everyone become an insufferable asshole recently? In the past five or so years, I have also =NOOTICED== that people have twisted into incredibly aggressive, stupid assholes who constantly hates and undermines everyone around them. This behavior exists both online and offline. Before, it was just a few bad apples you could easily filter out of your communities, but now it seems like every other person out there is a holier-than-thou dickhead with a chip on their soldier.
It has made organizing any political action, creative groups, etc. nearly impossible. Conversations with others always have a hostile undertone to them now. People of all walks of life have normalized extreme behaviors like openly scamming and exploiting others for miniscule, selfish, short-term gain over communal, long-term success.
The greater internet fuckwad theory has always been real, but ever since COVID happened it seems that the mask has slipped from everyone and now everyone is openly gutting each other in any way they can. Lying and cheating others have become normalized, and the open embracing of fascism has been aided by this moral decay in society.
I don't buy that it is just because times are hard. Times have been harder in the past, and people didn't stoop to this level. The moral decay has reached new heights, and it is like everyone has either become the most bourgeoise parasite or the worst type of lumpenprole.
Why is it happening?
>>2415904Long covid.
People getting poorer. Displaced anger. Can't yell at customers or the boss.
Social media is all about dunking on people or showing people getting humiliated.
Years of reality TV drama, celebrity gossip, everyone wants to be a catty bitch.
Low autism score from industrial pollution, weird stuff in foods.
Fat people aren't jolly.
>>2415911In the same way that nuclear weapons prevent war through mutually assured destruction, I think the threat of violence keeps people polite and society functional.
But to be honest, people still do kill each other over petty squabbles. Everyone is just so isolated and anti-social now that ironically, it's harder to do. Doxxing is an attempted expression of this desire, as the goal of doxxing is to paint a target on people you don't like and hope some schizophrenic kills them or they get killed in a swatting attempt.
I predict an explosion of violence soon, though, especially as conditions continue to rapidly deteriorate.
>>2415923I really do think long COVID is a huge culprit that most people haven't caught onto. It's going to be the lead poisoning of our generation if not worse. The studies that will come out in a few decades (if society is even still around) will be mortifying.
>>2415904>20 layers of irony and sarcasmIronic detachment is for cowards. It's about the only thing that gets me riled up these days.
Don't fucking bullshit me with "just asking questions" or "joking" about vile racist sadistic shit like "haha wouldn't it be funny if a bunch of brown refugee kids drowned?".
One of the frequent 'rightoid' complaints about libs is how libs are "too serious" and won't take a "joke". I think that's one of their qualities that shouldn't be condemned.
I think it's also a product of a certain upbringing; mainly the sheltered suburban types, who think everything they say is just "words" and never had to worry the person on the other end might be strapped, ready to pull a knife, or will simply beat you to death without anyone every finding out.
Actual lumpen criminals can be some of the most polite you'll come across, because if you live a life like that you already assume the person standing in front of you might fucking kill you.
Meanwhile the most insufferable cunts I've met in my life are these "upper-middle class" types. Who obviously never have had to fear being punched in the face for their smug insults, unfunny jokes and obnoxious behavior.
>>2415911>>2415929Should bring that back. I've gotten shit at work for not tolerating customers insulting me or getting visibly angry when they do. But it works.
Normalize everyday violence again. Including corporal punishment.
>>2416096Marxism-Leninism-Maoism-Assholeism obviously. Death to bourgeois standards of workplace professionalism. It's time to tell everybody to fuck off and particularly the nasty ass bourgeoisie.
>>2415969It's the sheltered suburban types who do social sector and academic work and go on the most about words being violence. Of course, the most violent of these words are "you're fired."
>>2416100>eugenicsvibes-based retard
>communism as a phenomenon outside the class struggle>le masses>le philosophyyou dont even know what youre talking about midwit
>>2416109Dunno if this was meant as critique, but I don't think words are violence. But they are serious, or should be, and punching someone for them is entirely justified.
I'm not annoyed by people being frank, but I am annoyed by people being evasive and disingenuous. There's an unmistakable honesty to violence.
Libs are generally "serious", no matter if their stances remain pathetic. But their demand for a return "civility" is equally grating as ironic discourse. It's basically the
>>2416093>be pleasant, vapid and emptyWhich only serves to protect the status quo by dulling all discourse entirely. (Which is worse than ironic detachment)
"Workplace civility" is up there too, and to no surprise exists to protect the feelings of middle management and obnoxious (upper-)middle class clientele. Who will gladly humble brag, insult you, and be shamelessly rude and unreasonable, but then throw a fucking fit if you tell them they're obnoxious and retarded.
