Ayo!
I have been posting here for a few years now, and thought this could be a fun idea, a question and answer thread.
Since I'm not a streamer, I'll just reply to them as they come in.
Don't know who I am?
I run HOUDINI Magazine, a leftist website/magazine/brand that's community run, user submission powered and 100% DIY from the ground up. The goal is to create a space separate from the social media algorithm based hyper hate feeds that populate the internet, while using the very concept of building a magazine as revolutionary infrastructure. The magazine has 20k~ weekly readers and growing!
One of the reasons I am doing this Q & A is to raise money to stay housed and fed. Has some in the audience may know, I relocated to Florida to be in the belly of the beast. I've been living on like $3 dollars a day type beat, prison washing clothes and shit. If you've ever been down bad as fuck on that one cup of noodle a day diet you get it.
We out here, we doing the thing, we raised nearly $600 for Palestine and ICE Legal shit for July 4th. IRL organized event, it ain't just internet shit.
A comrade has to pay his motel room rent, more or less, and while the magazine provides some income, it's the donations that do the most.
Here's the fundraiser link:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-houdini-magazineAsk me anything, and I'll do my best to respond. I'll also post the occasional PDF and other free shit to sweeten the deal, I know anons can be rowdy about the e-begging.
>>2417562Nah, my actual first name is Erik tho.
I picked the name for two reasons: it represents the 'miracle escape' and it's already fairly well known. It's the same reason Harry Houdini picked the name, low key. He picked the name from Robert Houdin, Robert Houdin was a famous magician, big name before Houdini, Houdini takes the name, spins it a bit. He picked it because it was well known. Clout game never changes.
>>2417582because it's powered by an SPA framework and is more so designed for smaller sites, we've kinda out grown our own engine.
https://houdinimagazine.net/this new homepage acts as our 'monthly' sort of highlights and has no need for JS
>>2417641I haven't been to any city aside from the one I live in, only been here a month. I like the weather better than Texas, reminds me much more of Louisiana
>>2417580I'm going to come back to these
I just read the article about dishwashers. Reminded me about this book I still need to read:
https://libcom.org/article/review-dishwasher-pete-wanders-entertains-rebelsHave you heard about it?
>>2418181I was reminiscing about 420chan and how much that site meant to me yesterday, and while nostalgiatripping I got high and found this place.
Long lost but home again.
>>2418297Houdini? What the fuck
Yeah yesterday nb
>>2417728Image boards are one of the last vestiges of the pre social media internet. I don't shill leftypol nor did I promote this Q&A to my audience, its a different vibe here.
>>2418181I was a lurker during the 8chan days, used 4chan more then though.
>>2418410I'm actually the most sober I've ever been. Haven't drank in two months, only drugs are cigarettes and instant coffee.
>>2418186I really like how every single author, artist, creator, etc that I like killed themselves or ODed (sort of the same thing if you think about it!) Bodes well for my future :^)
>>2418444I've considered joining the FRSO. I'm a bug leftist unity/united front guy though, I worry being in a party will soil my neutrality and ability to publish from people who are in parties themselves. This ain't a party mag. I got more important shit to do than to spend my Saturday nights writing letters to my "representives" or whatever reformist nonsense these parties do.
Making revolution means making war, when a single one of these parties, any of them, moves past reformist, I'll gladly join. I ain't Hasan, ain't finna tell you to go vote for AOC so we can. "Slowly move the masses left!" While a genocide happens. I think if you read some of my polemics you'll see the type of struggle I'm after.
