Probably a way simpler explanation for why the majority of us police officers generally suck is the fact that the majority of them with very few exceptions are in general weak people that get paid a lot to not get stronger or take on actual threats. That scandal involving that squad of Texas cops standing behind the deaths of children in fear was probably one of the best examples of showcasing just how weak the average cop is. It makes sense knowing how many videos you can find of ordinary barely/untrained and probably fat citizens (and sometimes actual children) developing and sometimes showcasing the confidence to take on the us police force in close quarters combat openly. At that point is it a surprise why the most crime ridden cities, towns, and counties of that country have always been notoriously non policed? Is it a surprise why similar countries with weak cops (including Mexico) have failed to deal with organized crime for decades? Is it a surprise why crime syndicates involving thousands or dozens of thousands of members have remained active and in control over several dozen/hundred kilometers of us territory for years?
So many theories on what makes cops so pathetic and villainous to ordinary citizens, yet no one can be bothered to take a reductionist take on what makes their behaviours believably human.
