I support all independence movements.
Whether based on ethnic, cultural, religious, political, linguistic or purely geographical reasons I support all independence movements.
One of the main reasons of conflict in history is that people don't feel represented in countries where they're ruled by governments that are so different from them based on the mentioned aspects and don't feel they rule in their favor or understand their worldview. Decentralization and secession is the answer.
The world should be made up of at least 500 countries and maybe much more, No country should ever be more than a regional power and the balkanization of all major powers and end of their hegemony is a must to achieve world peace or a better state than now.
India and Russia alone should be broken up to like 30 states each.

I agree that India as a unified state is a British invention with no basis in history, so it should be split up. But China and Russia only know large civilization states, that's their historical basis.

I have no real pretentions on what a global socialist rule would look like under a single party/organization and how it would be managed so I rey to imagine something more familiar that is a current world but where self rule for marginalized communities is achieved under representative governments.

well we must remember that the nation state is a modern concept and that historically, and still in practice, we largely exist in city-states, tribes, villagee or little kingdoms. a criticism is that if we create more nations we create more borders and so we limit travel.
