Split the job into several jobs that do each bit correctly rather than a single job that doesn't do any of them correctly.

If cops still exist when you strip away the bloat, then they may stay, if not, then they were a scam.

Don't bother, they are a cult. A neoliberal cult with socdem aesthetics which implodes into straight up fascism at the slightest pushback. For them, evicting poors is just the price society must pay for the stability of daily life. The lack of viciousness where I live is atrophy. It's just not needed. People will mostly acquiesce and pinch their noses and hope we can get another decade without major upheavals.

That's not the same for riot cops and other forces which pretty much only don the uniform to beat or kill people. Those are vicious alright, and fascists to a man. But they are kept well separate. Though again, at the slightest pushback the "good" cop simply follows orders and collects their pay and gets out of the way of the straight up criminals and fascists taking over the force. "Hey that wasn't us! Blame the politicians and their dogs!" they say, as they politely arrest you for inconveniencing some idem… of whose driver, the asslicker, "her butler more like!" they will rant the whole way. Like you are chums with them.

Got cops in the family and they are insufferable together. Everything has some self serving explanation. The way they talk you'd think they are the primary victims of crime and poverty and drugs and bad weather."Just following orders" is a regular alongside "blame the politicians". Somehow I'd prefer if they got angry and defensive and all thin-blue-line like, instead of this coy bullshit. ALAS they do so because they know when things escalate, they are not themselves but the armored gorillas and tacticool yahoos who dispense the beatings and shoot the bullets. So worse come to worst it won't be their ass on the line either.

Cops are class traitors with a shit job. They are abused by the state they serve and made to do all kinds of work that would be done far better by trained professionals. Their job is to uphold bourgeois law. Fuck the wretched police.
