Why does theatre still exist when movies are strictly superior to it in every sense?

>>669219
It's a different feeling and not any less enjoyable. film is superior in a technical and convenience sense but art is much more than that, it's also the experience/atmosphere, I would also say theatre acting is much more skillful and authentic because there is no multiple takes and editing

Apples and oranges, you tranime pedo faggot cunt.

Kill yourself, philistine.

>>669232
>"I just want to understand"

Finally you reveal yourself to be a reactionary.
You're no different from every other ignoramus out there.

>>669229
No offense but can you stop advertising?
Also why do people always think indie media should always be about the same old sociopolitical indignation shit?

>>669219
british 'people' love going to the theatre because they get boozed up beforehand and smuggle in a laod of cans, then keep getting boozed up and roll around in the aisles, start fights, and yell abuse at the actors in the play. its becoming a real problem

>>669233
Who was this post meant for, schizo?

>>669243
I've watched a couple videos of British politics. It's quite feisty. American politics are usually more subdued

>>669219
Impro theater is something movies cant yet simulate.

It's a different medium and the barrier to entry for staging a play is a lot lower than for shooting a film.

>>669369
How come? Renting a theatre cost a lot more than shooting a film using your iPhone.

>>669372
You can perform theater with nothing. You don't need to rent a designated place for it. A handful of people can put together some improv without even doing any prep.

>lust-provoking image
>irrelevant, time-wasting bait question
the channification of /siberia/ is near

>>669243
I'm british and literally never heard of this, can you prove it lol?

>Members of staff at the Edinburgh Playhouse had to stop the altercation that had broken out in the theatre after what appeared to be a “full-on fist fight” up in the balcony took place around 30-minutes before the sold-out production was due to end.

>This usher works on one such popular West End show where, she reports, there are constant instances of “people getting really aggy, and fights breaking out.” Her experiences are supported by recent press stories. Last month, a production of Into the Woods at Belfast’s Lyric theatre had to be stopped at the interval after complaints from cast members that audience members were talking and moving around the auditorium. In December, the Drifters Girl star Beverley Knight took to Twitter to complain about the behaviour of two audience members who had to be escorted out of the theatre. “OK. If your intention is to come to the theatre, get rat-a***d, make a scene, disrupt the show thus causing a show-stop?”

doesn't exactly seem like this is running rampant when the cases you mention are about like a few people on a few occasions

>>669400
How is it lust provoking?

>>669219
I think Generation Gamma is going to be big into plays because everything on the internet is going to be AI gen garbage by 2040

>>669407
lol, this. I think a LOT of threads would do better if people didn't use anime as their header image.
I often won't even read the words written under some big-eyed, noseless pink-haired toddler girl. Because a good thread about an interesting subject won't have it.

>>669400
>>669610
>character in theater image
>thread is about theaters
retardation

*strictly* superior, OP? How do you mean?
Only someone who's never been to a play would think such a thing. Go get involved in local theater and you'd probably never return here again. You'd probably even find a mate. Imagine that!

Yeah, but that character is aesthetically DISGUSTING.

>I often won't even read the words written under some big-eyed, noseless pink-haired toddler girl.
Noted, will use anime more often to filter spooked individuals such as yourself.

There's the exclusivity aspect. The Book of Mormon has made hundreds of millions of dollars. Something by Mamet or LaBute may only play in NYC on Broadway in a 200 seat house for a limited number of performances.
Something special like Slow West with John C. Reilly and Philip Seymour Hoffmann switching roles every performance?? That's the kind of thing I'll regret missing forever. And there's no DVD of it. It's gone.
That is the magic of theater. And you will never understand. You absolute pile of weeb shit.

>>669618
Thank you, we'll both benefit from that arrangement.

>>669620
I meant True West, not fucking Slow West.

>pedophile weeb thinks it can have an opinion on other mediums that aren’t absolute dog shit
lol

>>669463
>everything on the internet is going to be AI gen garbage by 2040
I'd move that up by 15 years. Have you seen how infested the Core Web is with Shrimp Jesus-tier slop?

>>669642
lol, watch that attitude. There's at least one of them here that righteously defends it and doesn't approve of anyone associating his cute little girl cartoons with an attraction to minors.
>she's a 5,000 year old dragon spirit, you sick fuck!!
So go and "bully" them somewhere else!!

Why do you hate arts and culture you can't understand, leftypol?

>>669616
I just attended a play recently and it was extremely awkward having to stare at people.

>>669722
Strange reaction. You shouldn't go to plays anymore, nutbag.

With plays it's possible to have interaction with the audience, but not as hands on as a game. I think it can be a neat medium.
>>669722
I feel like something has shifted the uncanny valley for me such that seeing an unmasked face is uncomfortable. Like why do people insist on showing their mouth in public? It provides nothing to help interpret people's emotions that isn't redundant and easier to with interpret body language and the upper half of the face, it's just an exposed orifice adding noise to that task.
>>669753
I'm honestly surprised that an innate discomfort looking at humans isn't more common. Hate when a youtube video has the author speaking in the corner for no reason.

Maybe furries should try making a play, like have everyone in a suit. With VR you could even have scripted stuff in the avatars.

>>669758
>it's possible to have interaction with the audience
Another weird thing is that I can't tell when it's appropriate and when it's not. I guess it's never.

>implying Accidental Death of an Anarchist (Channel 4 teleplay) isn't better than 90+% of films
didnt read

>>669656
yes I think it'll take a bit of time before AI becomes normalized and therefore lame though

>>669790
That's a movie. It's recorded, you are not watching it live.

By the way I read that play it's good.

>>669610
theyre modeled after cats

I dont think film is superior to stageplays. Just look how shitty so many stageplay adaptations there are. Part of the appeal of theatre is you can go to same play and it will be different every time even with the same actors but it can differ a lot with different actors and people running the play. They are related but different.

>insist on showing their mouth in public

What the fuck is your major malfunction? Are you so young that you ONLY remember Covid? EVERYONE has ALWAYS "shown their mouth" along with the rest of their face. Are you even from Earth? What is this shit?? Who the fuck are you people and why are you fucking insane like this?
You're surprised more people are not batshit loony like yourself? Get counseling. Go outside. Someone should make you get on stage and act in a play so you can be normal afterwards.

What in the actual fuck??
