It might regress to a feudal era. Although the current merit-based system for elite competition is deeply flawed, at least it allows some talented individuals to rise to the top.
In ancient times, many kings and feudal lords were idiots, and gifted people spent their whole lives stuck at the bottom.
Now with AI screwing everyone over, we could see a similar regression back to those times.

I think you forgot that we live under capitalism, and automation is almost always used to replace us, making us poorer and the bourgeoisie richer. If AGI comes, like 60-80% of jobs will be taken by AGI, no one will have an income to survive. And the largest recession imaginable will come, because the bourgeoisie needs proles to have enough buying power to buy their products and services, so most of them will probably get fucked in the ass too. At that point I think either they buy us off with the kushiest socdem policies or we just rise up and take the means of production from them ASAP.

Even if they buy us off, I think CEOs and entrepreneurs and innovators are done for because how can they justify their worth if the machine is smarter than them and comes up with all the ideas? We will just cut out the middleman.

Bump. Maybe I should remake this thread on the main board. I think this is a pretty crazy ass topic. From what the "godfather of AI" guy was saying, there's not going to be white collar jobs at all anymore in like 10 years. I think that seems like it will include CEOs and all the managers and everyone else as well. The only need will be for warm bodies to be automatons managed by the AI. Freaks like Sam Altman, Musk, and etc. are putting themselves out of a job and they don't even know it. I guess he already got his money so he can just retire to luxury so he'll be alright.
