Splitting the task into smaller tasks makes it more fuel-efficient in terms of motivation consumption, and when you complete a task you get a bit more in return.

I suppose what I mean is like, I don't know how to initially find it, but when I do randomly find it there's an art of keeping that kindle blazing.

1. By doing. Practice by just getting whatever needs done done. Keep doing something every day.
2. Rip yourself out of your shit routine and force better things upon yourself. Assert control of yourself.
3. Keep the promises you make to yourself. Don't be a piece of shit to yourself. There's other people for that shit.
4. List your tasks and cross em off as you finish them. List your achievements and successes as well to reify them.
5. Smoke less weed and stop drinking or doing downers. Do uppers instead.

Form obligations to other people.
Not wanting to disappoint others is a stronger motivation than simply being "self-motivated".
