hi yall. since december i have been only using one 8 gb ram but I am happy to say that today when I cleaned my desktop I figured out that my ram wasn't broke it was instead in the wrong slot. that was only after replacing the thermal paste, reseating the GPU and cleaning it. :D. any tech tips or things you think would be good for me to know lmk, because it seems like my desktop is always breaking

get malwarebytes or something. they have a free version and will regularly give you a free trial of the full thing. might help you avoid being too much of a boomer.

what does this mean? i know window is shit but I'm too scared to move to linux. is there a reason why the malware bypassed security? when I found it was malware I tried to delete it (deep in files) but then it also coincidedly deleted everything on my desktop and most of my files :(. thank god for my two harddrives externally saving my ass

i get that but idk why last time it didn't work? so I have it right now in pegs 2 and 3 . i have 4 total. and so I know peg 2 was always working but when I tried to put it in December another in peg 3 it wasn't working. i know the clicks on the top because its visible but on the bottom it doesn't click? It does when I incorrectly load the ram ? is the slot broken?

A memory leak just means that the system isn't managing data correctly. Normally there is a feature called garbage collection that wipes data when it stops being used to keep space free on your RAM. A memory leak is when stuff gets missed causing more and more data to be taken up. I don't think they were saying this with respect to the malware.

after I upgraded to Windows 11 I found that explorer was using massive amounts of ram for no reason and apparently it has to do with the intel integrated graphics

i cannot for the life of me figure out how to delete Microsoft edge forever, I think I killed it and then some like using revo unistaller. but three days ago it reinstalled. it was gone for maybe 2 weeks??

Anon I explained to you last time that each MB has specific slots you have to use for various numbers of sticks of ram. There is 1 slot to use for one, 2 specific slots for 2 and 3 and 4 and 6 and etc. consult your manual . It is available online. Look up your brand of mobo.

sorry i understand but im telling you there is two pops on the 2nd slot and the third slot only has one. the bottom and top but the third only has the top that pops. that's why I thought the ram was broken because its only that ram stick. when I put the one that I know works in the third slot it again doesn't double lock? sorry for the misunderstanding

No I am saying there are specific slots the memory should be in depending on your mobo and how many sticks you are using.
