actually reading theory made me realize that this site is 80% liberals, revisionists, left-anticommunists, idealists, nihilists, outright reactionaries and ultras
I need to get out of here
>>674708i was thinking of trying lemmygrad but it's dead as shit and also very much not immune to revisionism, despite the resolute commitment to ebin ML aesthetics
federation with hexbear dilutes things even further
is communist xitter any good?
>>674718nothing against public displays of horniness, but I myself am a pretty reserved person despite progressive beliefs and privately being a degen
my dad was a total pervert who wasn't ashamed to make sexual remark and grope my mom in front of me when I was a kid, and I grew up exposed to all kinds of weird pornography online, so this might just be own brainworms, but:
can't we keep in in the bedroom?
>>674748Fair, I've seen similar sentiments around on fedi and it seems like they're able to find a comfortable spot / manage will with the filtering options and cw collapsable system.
>>674756Well I said that lemmy is a gimmick, not that it's good.
>>674761It's someone who conceives of themselves of being vaguely "on the left", and might even call themselves "socialist" or "communist", but on every issue that has to do with the actual building of communism in actual reality, and actual discourse about communism, they will side with the liberal narrative.
Such as:
Was Stalin an evil baby-eating monster or a staunch communist dealing with reality at hand?
Was the USSR socialist, or was it just a clique of cynical vampires building an empire of evil?
Did the masses support and side with the communists, or were they all brainwashed idiots who willingly marched into a slaughterhouse?
Did the USSR defeat Nazism and liberate the Jews from concentration camps, or were they as bad as the Nazis, and actually did genocide themselves?
etc. etc.
A left-anticommunist does the CIA's job for them by slandering communists' real attempts at building socialism, while upholding some abstract, ultra-liberal notion of what socialism is "supposed to be like".
>>674829The real red pill is realizing the "general manager" (
de facto admin) of 4chan is a redditor. We are just the more negative version of reddit, otherwise it's basically the same thing. Dialectics and so on.
>>674783This Ostlagia-fueled perspective is just as romantic as the left anti-communism you are criticizing.
"Noooo, muh West didn't fulfill the promises of Marx's daydreams", "muh wholesomerino peasant revolts", yeah get over it, maybe your orthodox ideas need some kind of revision at some point that isn't soyfacing over Chinese capitalism as the last savior of communism. But first go cry some more on Twitter.
Your path to salvation relies firstly on recognizing one basic fact - that all self-described communist and socialist countries today and in the past, with the SOLE exception of pre-Stalinist USSR, are just opportunistic capitalist countries with slightly different political economies, using the language and symbols of communism to signal their opposition to western imperialism in favor of their own imperialist goals, and to justify the rule of their communist/socialist parties that are just bourgeois parties with a red flag draped over it.
Then you read everything you can from this -
https://www.international-communist-party.org/Then you re-read Marx/Engels/Lenin to understand them correctly without the baggage of false leftist interpretations clouding what you're reading. (aka the biggest reason why people always say they "dont understand" Marx)
Then you become a "leftcom" aka a real communist, and achieve for the first time in your life, real clarity of what is to be done, and a kind of inner peace and balance between knowledge and action that leftoids will never ever have no matter how much they delude themselves.
>>674719This was true even in the soviet union
All that avant garde early soviet art everyone soyfaces over? Pushed by mensheviks and leftcoms
>>674748This.
Especially with the screeching feminists whining about "rape" whenever men appreciate female beauty.
>>674720Nah they're just satanists who have grown incompetent after finally killing their biggest enemy and letting loose for too long
They couldn't even overthrow Venezuela after multiple attempts
>>675115That's social realism (realistic, but stylized)
Them avant garde fucks were doing nonsense like eschewing representation entirely.
Like I get it that shit looks kinda cool sometimes, but when you're working for the government and your job is to set the artistic direction for the visual material produced by AN ENTIRE MULTI-NATIONAL COUNTRY FOR THE NEXT HUNDRED YEARS, you kinda need more than triangles and boxes
>>675121I just like thinking about reminding people that the nazis were killed off by a secular multicultural state run by an ethnic minority
Sometimes I get hard thinking about it
>>675125I love boxes and triangles and circles.
But I agree that's not gonna usually catch the eye average normie joes, it's for snooty artsy fartsy types who import shoegaze twee post-punk albums from England. The people demand Boy George instead.
Boxes and triangles are still good for some the decorations around socialist realist works or movie posters though
>>675532Also, keep in mind that constructivism wasn't totally abandoned. A lot of it was integrated into the broader movement of socialist realism, as it wasn't considered a total lost cause unlike some of the other architectural and artistic trends of the time. This is because socialist realism is not an "art-style", but a philosophy of art. If I had to explain it in short, I'd say it's about privileging the view of the proletariat.
And I think this is a normal thing that happens in the lifecycle of experimental art movements: the new techniques, forms and ideas they create get integrated into the total body of artistic production. Like, that';s the point of experimentation, no? This happens even in bourgeois societies. Cubism happened, cubism was over. Lamenting that the USSR didn't continue funding and developing constructivism for the next 50 years of its existence is a bit like lamenting that the "free marketplace of ideas" didn't keep cubism alive indefinitely.
I find this habit of always lamenting "what could have been" a bit infantile. It's a kind of trotskyism: upholding an illusory potentiality against a supposed "fall from grace".
Also has to be mentioned that people fucking hated living in constructivist buildings lol. This is one of the reasons I agree with the criticisms that such trends are petite-bourgeois: the designs are "cool" intellectually, when evaluating from a privileged position, from bird's eye view, from the point of view of an architect, or a tourist, etc., but from the point of view of a proletarian, it fucking sucks having to look at every fucking day.
