Because it was infiltrated and subverted by the CIA and Mossad in the sixties. Go to the Buddhist section of Powell’s, Barnes and Noble etc, and start checking the names of translators/authors. A lot of the subversives changed their names to Tibetan names fyi, so you might have to read the “about the author” page to find their true identities.
