Blockbuster was cool though. It was a simpler time. Nowadays the "right" way to consume media is stupidly expensive, you can't just rent the tapes, you usually have to buy, and even then it's just shitty license to watch and not actually the media itself, and if the system goes down you can't keep watching.

Piracy is always justified, but there should be a legal and sanctioned way to get media, and in communism we will abolish copyright so the internet can be like a giant library. Imagine everything operating like archive.org, zlib, and scihub.

How poor were you? I don't think my parents were that well off back when I was younger but we still got to rent movies and games regularly when it was a thing you did. For context my parents are Mexican immigrants that worked in agriculture not very high paying but it was manageable I guess
