I'm also saying that there has been push to popularize the idea that autism manifests differently in women purely so more women can have autism. For instance, they will say that girls have greater social awareness and will hide the signs of their autism. This is absurd. While autism can manifest in a variety of ways, it is primarily a social disorder. Both knowing that autistic behaviors are socially unacceptable and knowing how to hide them by the ripe old age of 3 when symptoms usually start showing is called "not having autism."
They may have a disorder. It isn't autism. And, honestly, it's ridiculous that there are people who want more women to have autism for some daft reason.
