The history of capitalism is a history of its *development* and the struggle between the interests of the proletariat and bourgeoisie, so the idea that a country can exist as an ideologically perfect proletarian haven-state within a broader capitalist world even if there are only marginal gains at the expense of other proletarian interests seems sort of naive to me. I think Deng had the right idea in many ways. I might just not know what I'm talking about though.
