Yes, exactly. Regardless of religion, all people should feel deeply ashamed of themselves, and there is no excuse for narcissism (self-love) of any sort.

However, I would also say that only certain branches of Protestantism are narcissistic. They are, interestingly, the ones that gave up church traditions and hierarchy. The less "high church" and liturgical a Protestant denomination is, the more narcissistic it is.
