Existing as an extension of why more people are losing interest in having children, some are opting out of relationships including platonic ones for a simple reason—it’s too much work. Chores, jobs, planning, self management stacked on top of the fact that finding friends is legitimately hard in much of the planet—you literally cannot just expect to simply walk outside and find one in most places—stacked on top of the fact that maintaining friendships or romantic relationships with people is a hell in of itself, I can understand why loneliness is receiving less scorning and more acceptance—at least where I live. It’s too much stress placed on one person and the amount of things you can lose to exploitative friends or failed romantic relationships or even just the amount of time and energy spent on even finding other people can be enough for weaker people to just throw in the towel and quit both finding relationships and also lose interest in them entirely.
