I feel like fedi is different in this regard because you'll see people liveposting learning about something, admitting they hadn't already known and sometimes hearing shared experiences by people also admittedly trying to learn the thing.

I think this is the issue: a pair of cultures that sites like 4chan and twitter have fostered in their hyperscrutiny is "You should have already known and your attempts to grow are mockworthy, if not morally damnable" and "I am a walking encyclopedia of my subject of interest and I can demand of others to do things as I've learned them, I can tell the damned from the clean."

If you're still browsing 4chan, you need to just leave the internet entirely. Pick up a hobby, I've been learning to mend and modify clothes to the point that I can make a simple outfit with cheap materials and tools. 4chan is slow suicide, you'd be better off drinking yourself to death.
