Why is all contemporary leftist dialogue in the West about stupid bullshit like micro aggressions and office buildings being too cold when we could even be discussing comparatively small scale shit like federally mandated sick and vacation days (in the US)

Genuinely. I don't even think it's even a problem with identity politics anymore as much as it's the fact that Americans and Western leftists can't shake off that hyperindividualist thinking.

I can tell because often times the worst instances of identity politics usually happen not even because of a set belief (though I'm not saying that it doesn't happen because it does,) but because they either have experienced something they see as a slight against their identity and then they decided to make a big deal out of it without considering what could be going on in other people's lives or they're narcissist dick bags who realize they can take advantage of progressive beliefs in order to get away with being a straight up abuser.

It's actually honestly fucking disturbing how many times I've seen people manage to get away with being a horrible person but because they were a minority they either got away with it or they got away with it until it effected the "wrong" organizer.

I'm not going to name the organization but there was one I used to be a member of in the sunbelt who has member that was honestly a total piece of shit and kept doing selfish shit that genuinely fucked up the organization but because they were black they got away with it until one day they got caught sexually assaulting one of the main organizers after forcefully kissing them.

Honestly, I've kind of given up on hope in the US when it comes to socialism because every socialist I've meet makes it about themselves and their clique and then destroys themselves. It's a vicious cycle of ideology that will probably only end when the US kills itself not via revolution but because people are so fucking narcissist that they will self destruct.

Have you considered that Americans are just really retarded when it comes to these things? Like ever since the guilded age there hasn't been any meaningful sociopolitical change and has just been a back-and-forth pendulum where the best activism has been violent protests and the least are twitter hashtags. They are the most politically opinionated country and the least knowledgeable of geopolitical and economic history. Americans simply aren't built for collective effort, it's entirely ingrained into the country's infrastructure and individualist morality. The best thing to do is hope that those in charge accelerate the proletarianization of their citizens and wait until the material conditions actually bring forth something of note before Americans are completely brainrotten by their treats or the air pollution just flat-out kills them all

Well in regard to micro-agressions, it's because the existence of CPTSD is inconvenient to capitalism, particularly the advertizement industry, so people being aware that being constantly exposed to acutely and vicerally unpleasant stimulus like ads will fuck you up in the head is something conservatives have to deny and cover up fast or people will install ublock and get off of twitter / other debate addict platforms.
