nerdy consumer politics are like that because theyre middle classers so of course they have the money to waste on random bullshit AND loads of free time to also waste trying multiple things out that at the end of the day are completely irrelevant yet will pretend its something super duper important that must be debated online to show everyone else you have the "superior taste"

if you really want to save money you can use a knife (a real knife made by an artisan) but I don't if that's an option in the first world, or if artisanal stuff is too expensive there
