>bro it's so deep you gotta check it out
<show is literally "democracy" vs "autocracy"
This is the only kind of anime that deserves hate from a non-radlib commie, a show which, without any moralizing on one's preferred way of escapism, exists only to politically retard the viewer.

"What should we call our show?"
"Legend of Galactic Heroes"
"Wow so original!"

It does present some interesting themes, even if you don't buy into the overarching liberal narrative about "freedom" and whig history vs material conditions and cyclical history theory. At its core the conflict between the republican and imperial states becomes one of representative government vs bonarpartism.

To mention the historic parallels, during the late medieval and early modern period the existence of isolated oligarchic city states and peasant republics was threatened by increasingly powerful noble estates and the emergence of the first nation states. These represented an objective advancement in economic, political and cultural centralization, even if to some proto-bourgeois individuals they might have seemed regressive.

What makes the show genuinely great is the detail in which the political conflicts and space warfare are described. This is probably a bigger draw than the ideological conflict.

I mean the show is set in the far future of the real world, Hitler is referred to as "that guy from the Middle Ages". Yet the central conflict is a decaying liberalism and a vigorous bonapartism, a conflict that has been "solved" already by Hitler's time in real history (all modern capitalist states are functionally bonapartist), a point of development written about by many different kinds of modern communists (even ones unconnected to Marx/reject Marx).

The quality (depth) of the show comes from the quantity.

this and also the charcter arcs are mostly stellar

not to be retardphobic but I believe anime is not the most profound area of political analisis

I had literature class in school. I had to write an essay on a certain work and I chose to focus on the tyrant depicted in the story. Became that teacher's pet after that.

thats fine but youre on a communist imageboard

I'm pointing out that this is a real thing. Not that I endorse attempting to seriously analyze politics in fiction.

>all modern capitalist states are functionally bonapartist
say what now?

The French government signs into law unpopular measure after unpopular measure. They only do this because they know there is no meaningful threat. What can that be but functional bonapartism? There's no Caesar figure, but for communists politics is about substance, not form, and this is the substance of bonapartism.

Haven't seen it, but it cant possibly be as devoid or bankrupt of thought and originality as Eva. No, "I wont watch your 5000th rehashed iteration of the same fucking story you still cant get right."
