the funniest video i ever saw was someone jumping off a building to kill themselves and a guy on the ground floor putting out his arms to catch them, like a cartoon 🤣
the guy on the ground was obviously crushed and died. like, what was he thinking? 🤣 funny but tragic. a childlike desire to help.

another sad one i saw was a guy about to be trapped by a giant concrete slab in a factory, so his workmate jumped in to stop the slab, but was now being crushed with him. noble but idiotic 😅😭

You've been conditioned to find it funny by prior media you watched that insisted it was, sometimes accompanying violence with a laugh track.

It's the same reason why a lot of big budget "cartoons but for adults, unlike cartoons by default which are for kids because we said so" (south park, family guy, et al) will just express a boilerplate Heritage Foundation talking point with the cadence of a joke along side actual jokes in the same cadence so you learn to laugh at the cadence rather than the content. That is basically the entire premise behind standup comedy too: you feel pressured to laugh at the cadence because if you don't it's rude.
