>>694576Animation was a much more expensive and exhaustive field back then so people who do enter it are either aesthetes (crank) or people who are already involved with other fields like literature
Democratization of art caused by the emergence of photography destroyed this. Now every random Joe can enter the field of art and since they're normies their concern relates usually to normie stuff like existentialism, sex, depression, unfulfillment, etc which is offensive to the palate of Aesthetes. You think bluey is kiddie stuff? The old Artists would think that most adult literature are borderline offensively childish since the themes (i.e my poly relationship collapsed because i fell in love with one of my partners but then he ghosted me) revolve around the same old normie themes that also appeared in kiddy shows, such as desire for recognition and heartbreak
This is the reason why "modern art" is so weird from our perspective. This whole shit about plastering bananas in walls is a direct middle finger by artists against the shallow emotionalism of plebeian art. Also why they all go into surrealism; this is all desire to find a platonic beauty ideal
