>>695949i’ve been seeing a rise of puritanism and bigotry in the fandom typically from furries with huge followers (aka popfurs ig?) but also those with a small following making an impact but that seems to mostly be a normie/mainstream social media and american thing from what i observed so far. they also tend to be the loud minority too and not fight against nazis. or they do but they ended up being moralfags themselves as well in the end of the day
luckily they also get called out for their behavior, but on insta, in my experience though. they are less likely to get called out unless they draw art of weird fetishes, feral, or even cub for some reason (which is apparently just as bad as abusing real animals irl) when there are animal abusers and child abusers running around free in the fandom.
i also don’t like how artists on social media, mainly tik tok, but also on instagram (and probably short form content videos in general) are only into furry content for the money and not because they’re genuinely interested in furries. but i don’t use social media anymore but i do have a bluesky and tumblr account. might delete them soon. i also deleted my art instagram account and now use insta for personal usage these days so idk what it’s like these days
always creeped me out whenever non furries said they like furries but that’s just me being the “furry who hates their own fandom” stereotype. idk this is just based on my own experience in the fandom during the recent years coming from someone who joined the fandom in 2017 and left afterwards. the people to claim to be “furries” or “fans” of such could be fakers too, like they’re only into it for the money, or aesthetic and nothing else. and their only other “hobby” is just looking at images of them and that’s it, besides going to convents, and wearing a fursuit. i feel like they don’t even participate in furry culture at all and are only into it for the aesthetic and money and that’s it
idk as an underprivileged furfag myself. it always made me uncomfortable that the furry fandom feels unwelcoming toward others who aren’t privileged. it also feels like most modern day furries are moralists who indulge in harassment these days but that’s probably because i used to have twitter (still planning to delete bluesky and probably tumblr) and it was hell. it’s probably also because the instagram art community is stuck in 2020 (i deleted my furry account for a more personal one ever since) and i’m on the western/american side of the fandom since i only understand english so far
i should probably take an internet break even though it’s my only form of escapism so far and my youtube feed is now utter dog shit for whatever reason after watching 1 video (reposting this with the spoiled images so the mods don’t hunt me down)
