Sorry for e-celeb drama but I actually do have a general point here about counter-revolutionary tendencies in general and the way people avoid education.

Really we should have all realised the vapid aesthete bit was not a bit- but for me, the moment I really recognised that she was not even close to on our side was when she was clearly getting deep into psychoanalysis. Don't get me wrong, I like psychoanalysis, it's interesting, but it also lives a double function of providing escapism to intelligent, but mentally weak liberals, so they don't have to engage with the cognitive dissonance brought on by materialist issues. It appeals very specifically to people who would rather spend their time criticising community psychology, and 'working out their trauma' than learning about economics. Contrapoints is exactly this kind of person so it fit and gave me the ick.

I have seen many cases where intelligent friends of mine have gone down the psychoanalysis rabbit hole and turned into toothless, obsequious liberals.

ALMOST happened to my ex when he was leaping from inpatient program to inpatient program

>so they don't have to engage with the cognitive dissonance brought on by materialist issues
Anon, be honest with me, have you ever read anything by Freud?

>>695974
glad he recovered!

Yeah! I had a serious psychoanalysis phase. And Lacan and Guattari and Irigaray and Kristeva etc etc! I own a copy of Freud's complete works. Like I said, I like psychoanalysis. I'm just criticising their general tendency as a blob.

Very tangentally related but reminds me of vidrel kinda

It is just a weird accusation to raise against psychoanalysis. I guess neofreudianism does lean towards abandonment of Freuds hard materialism, but then it does warrant disclaimer rather than criticizing psychoanalysis as a whole.

only from liberalism he’s still a big dummy

I dont know a fucking thing about psychoanalysis but I do agree with ts:
>rather spend their time criticising community psychology, and 'working out their trauma' than learning about economics.
mostly cuz of just living and meeting this archetype multiple times in vaguely left wing circles. Is psychoanalysis a single framework similar to the materialist conception of history or a bunch of competing schools of thought? whats the big takeaway for some schmuck who prolly isn't reading Lacan,Deleuze of Freud anytime soon(and def not understanding what they're trynna say)

I feel like psychology kinda gets more effective when you combine it with communist shit. Like, reading that people's way of thinking changes according to class is kind of a game changer when it comes to understanding people.

I’m skeptical of all white AMAB people in queer spaces. It’s not a coincidence they tend to lean relatively conservative and support white supremacy. Also, contra, I sent you a message years ago asking for a source to one of your videos and you never responded. I will mention this every time I comment about you.

The great discovery of Freud I would say is that human beings have history. Genetic history, cultural history, personal history, all mutually intertwined. At the bottom of individual subjectivity lies social (and biological ) objectivity. Human psyche is a collection of processes acquired during its development, which happens under concrete circumstances of individual life.

A book I would really recommend if you want to get both defense and critique of psychoanalysis from Marxist perspective is Social Amnesia: A Critique Of Contemporary Psychology, great read. Its relatively short and will give you general idea of Freud's contribution to marxism.

When did "learning about economics" did anyone any good. It's even less of a science than psychoanalysis.

White AMAB queers are over represented in LGBTQ+ spaces and disproportionately benefit from white supremacy (so they seek to maintain it). This is evident in the LGBTQ+ dating scene (I’m an incel communist, so I evaluate all politics through the lens of sex). Also many Republicans in the US are flaming homos that are in the closet. Looking at you, JD Vance.
