What is the leftypol consensus on the fat acceptance movement?

I don't get the hate fat people get.

I accept that I'm fat.

>>700985
If they'd don't care if they're fat then it's based
If they're self conscious then it's cringe
Simple as.

Kill all fatties

There isn't a consensus lol, but if you hate fat people there's a something deeply wrong with your priorities.
>>701055
Something's wrong with your priorities.

I don't care. Obesity is a public health issue but other than that no one should care if others are reasonably overweight.

i support it since i’m fat irl. i also don’t understand why do people hate fat people so much. yes obesity is a public health issue but i think there’s a difference between that and just having fat in your body

Does anyone else remember that Nabisco executive saying how there are no such things as unhealthy foods?
That's what I think of it.

>>701109
Not Nabisco, Mondelez.

obesity is a social disease and should not be celebrated

>>701112
Came to say this

Fat acceptance is dangerous but discriminating against people for being fat is also dangerous. Like we should not be promoting stuff like "healthy at every size" but we also need to get rid of shit like doctors ignoring symptoms of active health issues to just tell patients to lose weight. We don't tell smokers to quit smoking before we treat lung cancer.

>>700985
stop eating for two weeks, drink lots of water and up your salt intake

>>700987
I accept this person being fat

>>700985
At first I assumed it was a psyop by agribusiness, soft drink companies, etc. but it turns out it was started by fat fetishists. Look up Llewellyn "Lew" Louderback.

>>700987
can i see your asshole

Fat people should be put in camps

>Fat acceptance is dangerous but discriminating against people for being fat is also dangerous

depends on what do you mean by “fat acceptance is dangerous”. if it is just de stigmatizing being big and around and just trying to spread fat positivity then i don’t see the problem. if its promoting dangerous life threatening diseases like obesity and diabetes then i agree tbh

>>701201

based unless the guy was exploiting his wife under the disguise of “feederism

>>701149
u can be healthy when ur fat. the dangerous thing is doctors not taking fat patients seriously and they must undergo weight loss to remove a "factor" when a lot of the time its literally just what the patient is describing that doesnt necessarily have to do with their fat. altho its also healthcare technique from surgery and so on being built around the assumption of being non fat. it isnt non-accurate to say that the entire healthcare system just outright refuses to accommodate for fat people

>>701108
Some people desperately need to feel superior to others, hating fat people is just easy way to feel better about themselves.

I think we should encourage the population to take good care of their own health.
Hating fat people isn't encouragement in any direction, though.

>>701231
This.
Alot of this "concern" for fatness really isn't health concerns at all but rather a matter of kicking a man while he's down

They do the same for ugly people.

>>701232
Pretty much my take on the matter. We should encourage people to be healthy, but we don't have to be a dick about it. I'm a bit of a hypocrite though because I'm fat and I make fun of fat people a lot.

>>701208
> if its promoting dangerous life threatening diseases like obesity and diabetes then i agree tbh
The average perception of what constitutes fat vs obese has dramatically slid. A lot of what people think of as merely fat is actually morbid obesity.

>>701228
>u can be healthy when ur fat
Depends on what you mean by fat. There's generally a healthy weight range and the farther you go outside it in either direction the greater your risk of all sorts of problems.

may i suggest utilizing the Body Mass Index standards put forward by the National Library of Medicine to keep everyone involved in this discussion on the same page?
