It's always been my dream to play in a band but I've never been able to find people willing to take it seriously among my friends/acquantainces. I'm not expecting to make real money from it or anything but I do wanna put real effort into songwriting and performance and try to create something genuinely good. But how do you find people willing to do that with you? I feel like all the Craigslist/Vampr type stuff is filled with Ultimate Guitar types who just want to start cover bands

What kind of music would you like to play?

All bands start out as cover bands. You won't be able to perform anywhere if you don't play what the people wanna listen to. You'd start sprinkling in original songs in the setlist throughout the months.

Forgot to mention but you don't need the whole band to songwrite. Two songwriters is good enough and too many cooks spoil the soup

Usually the reason why most bands break up is because the lead singer is writing all the material and isn't allowing the others to flourish
