not the anon but I've always been a determinist. like a "choice" you make is just neurons firing. your brain makes you feel like you have agency but really you act before you internalize. And even when you internalize before you act it's because your brain calculated in advance that it should wait longer before acting and internalize more. But whether you have the kind of brain that makes "good decisions" or "bad decisions" is a result of things that already happened in the past. Like some people are born brain damaged. Others accumulate brain damage through "bad choices" but those "bad choices" were the result of some kind of fucked neurochemistry anyway. People make a big deal out of "bringing bad people to justice" but my whole thing is if you have someone incompatible with society you just get rid of them. Not because they "deserve" it or because it's "just" but because that's just what you do to make the system work better. People tell themselves stories to make themselves feel better and not feel like they're a machine. Because they have the kind of brain that feels better when those stories are in place. Which wasn't their choice.
