I used to be way in to cape shit when I was a kid, I've often thought about this. Setting aside platitudes about power corrupting and the disconnection from basic humanity you'd have, I still don't think it's very feasible. Unless you're legit just omnipotent or something. Weird connection to make, but I think the first season of gundam 00 at least tries to grapple with something like this, having a small team of elite pilots use overpowered mechs to stop war by just obliterating anyone who tries to do it. I don't think the writing could handle the concepts they tried to explore but it's worth a watch if you're into flashy mecha anime with VERY idealistic conceptions of how power and politics work. I'm baked as hell so if this is nonsensical I dunno, just keep scrolling I guess.
