That's all you really need if they already no what you study or where you work. Nobody actually wants to hear you vent about your job or school, they are just being polite.

If you need to talk at some other point in the conversation you tell a CONCISE abecdote or news story or whatever the fuck you learned recently. But keep it short, autists have a tendency to infodump to the point where the only thing going through the other person's mind is like "how the fuck do I get this motherfucker to stop telling me about the history of lugnuts?"

That's it the less you do on the about yourself the better.

can't exactly talk about the news here, it will all be either divisive or sound like an echo chamber of common frustration that is best channeled elsewhere more productive. while possibly producing social bonds, both variants aren't suitable for a mellow and friendly conversation if you're trying to build up a "likeable" reputation and get to know people in my opinion

There's all kind of news. You can talk about sports, new movies, shows, new restaurants or something opening. Anything.

Definitely. Like I said, I think autistically inclined people are liable to infodump about some subject without gauging if the person wants to keep hearing about it. That applies to every story too. Get to the fucking point. When you give detail after detail, and the other person has no idea what kind of emotional response you want or what reaction they should give, that stressed them out. Or you bore them out of their minds.

So yeah think of it like 'factoids' short interesting pieces of information to give someone. Likeable people know a lot of interesting things about a wide range of subjects. You could mention something about the local history of the place you live that they might now, anything tangentially related to the conversation or your surroundings or whatever. People might remember some interesting piece of information you told them and want to share it with other people even, and they'll remember they learned it from you. That makes you an interesting person.
