Is AI going through old pictures and fucking with them?

I came across this famous old photo recently, and it looks like AI has been fucking with it.

Yeah, clearly upscaled.
AI is making image searching a real nightmare. I was looking for some stock photos for an article and struggled to find actual photos, its all flooded with generated imagery. Also I dont keep reaction folder, usually I just search for anime girl pictures to add to a post, and it is increasingly difficult to seep through piles of AI garbage before finding anything suitable.

Yes many websites have generously decided to use AI to upscale or "enhance" old images and videos without giving clear access to the unedited originals. We love it don't we folks.
