Maupin is smart. The problem with him is he has no charisma. He clearly has autism and very little self-awareness. I also doubt he would win a debate with another leftist.

Beyond Maupin's own lack of charisma, this is mistaking the whole point of the conservative college campus tours. The point of which is literally just to dab on your opponents and get sound bites. Beyond that, you're going "into the belly of the beast" as it were, which raises your individual profile. To conservatives college is this black citadel where young people go in and blue-haired androgynes come out. You're making a big show of "walking into the lion's den". Jubilee recognized that and boiled it down to its most essential components: you surround yourself with ideological opponents then see if you can walk away from the debate gangbang with a tight asshole.

You go to a college campus as a Communist, and unless you're the most annoying stereotypical tankie on the planet, the most you'll get is people asking earnest questions and you (hopefully) answering in turn. The risk is appearing as a douchebag when you answer in a desperate attempt to get an "own" but you can't really "own" someone who's less ideologically committed against you.

You want virality? Find a way to humiliate Nazis and other far-right types and distill it into easily consumable compilations of them stuttering or appearing owned, put on some Yakety Yak over it to add to the absurdity of their humiliation.
