Ghosts are an oppressed minority in almost every concievable speculative setting:
>Ghosts are, obviously, legally dead and thus have no recognition or protections for their rights.
>The Church tends to proclaim their existence on Earth "unnatural" and suggest that all ghosts are meant to permanently leave the mortal world towards heaven/hell, the ghost's wishes nonwishstanding.
>Systematically vilified for refusing to leave their homes when said homes are bought by a living family… or even worse, a landlord. Especially bad if the ghost can't leave their home due to the specifics of their curse.
>Are considered "scary" despite much more of them being former victims of violence than perpetrators of it.
>Are routinely framed for crimes by the living criminals (Scooby Doo villians being the worst)
Realising that had ruined the Ghostbusters for me - I now see them as a right wing technofascist militia mass kidnapping helpless sentient beings, and disproportionatey - to protect some petit bourgeous property.
How do you have sex with ghosts?
Ghostbusters has always been a right wing movie.
