Sorry but these days whenever I hear someone say shit like "we just have to fight for it, pessimism is the weapon of the enemy" I roll my eyes and imagine that this is the exact kind of person who showed up for BLM thinking they just had to walk outside for a few weeks and the government would hand them their demands in a plate.
The global left has had no major victories in the past 15 years; all people can point to is that a handful of countries have functional and popular governing left-wing parties, as if that hasn't been true at every point in postwar history. It's not change, let alone progress. The most that has been accomplished is a few e-celebs and politicians have become rich by peddling feelgood leftslop to impressionable young people desperate for hope.
Saying that we're powerless/helpless/etc is just making excuses. Can we overcome these obstacles to achieve our goals or not? If it's the former then excusing your failures is just a distraction, if it's the latter let's just cut the crap and become doomers.
Our current crop of supposed leaders, whether real ones or just "thought leaders", couldn't organize us out of a housefire. It's time to wake up and demand seriousness, from ourselves and others. As far as I'm concerned every facile midwit Twitter take about capitalism, every aimless "call for action", every vaguely socialist-coded work of fiction, every refusal to engage with actual constraints and solutions, it's all just the work of a useless subculture meant to comfort and pacify people who identify with "left-wing beliefs" but not actually achieve anything. If our "optimism" exists only within this culture it is useless if not outright harmful. And if we completely lose our ability to distinguish between this illusion and the real work we might as well be dead.

Ok, we can all see there's problems, but just being like "everything sucks, we need to get serious" achieves nothing, either go out and make something serious or fuck off. Why should anyone listen to you if you've not contributed anything?

>>716942
This is the exact kind of pablum devoid of content that I'm talking about. What does it mean to "go out and make something serious"? Can you even specify it or does it break down when you move from the abstract to the concrete? You're just alive in the illusion that there is a vague thing called "action" that's available to us right now and will solve all our problems yet somehow no one knows what it looks like or how to do it.
Meanwhile you accuse me of achieving nothing but I've at least specified the problems and called on us to reject the orgs and people and ideas that keep absorbing time and attention and resources from all of us despite actually doing nothing, while all I took from you was at most two minutes of your time. And yet even this reasonable, easy notion incenses you so much that you instinctively reject it because I haven't "contributed anything" (also a laughable accusation because who has? Why bother going on leftypol at all if this is your criterion?)
If you want a clear actionable suggestion from me here is one: the next time some org invites you to a protest for some vague ideal, investigate it, see if it's actually being led by committed mature people and not liberal careerists or histrionic terminally online Chapo listeners, see if it actually has a list of goals and a rational strategy that the protest fits into, and if it doesn't then don't go. I've saved you an afternoon and fare money AND we can all stop contributing to the legitimacy of these useless parasites.
Yes, it's "doing nothing", but anyone who doesn't recognize that doing nothing is preferrable to doing something stupid is stuck in the exact hopeless, idealistic, irrational cult mentality that I described in my original post.

I'm not gonna extend the shitflinging indefinitely, my beef is not with anyone on this site, and quite honestly I want to help you all if anything. But when these thin narratives are all that stand between people and despair, talk is useless. So keep doing you. Keep showing up to "massive protests" and then wondering why nothing gets better. Keep watching Hasan or whatever secret based version of him you think is superior as they capture your attention and divert it to their personal dramas. Keep donating to fringe parties controlled by out-of-touch nuts that have existed for decades and never even won local elections but will somehow lead the revolution when the time comes (which should be soon right? "This will surely be the end of the American Empire says increasingly nervous man for the 7th time this century"). Keep reading increasingly specific works of "theory" (or more sincerely video essays) that really insightfully illuminate that Capital has infected and irreversibly tainted not 10386 areas of personal life as was previously thought but in fact 10387!
Keep sleepwalking into collapse while secretly hoping that China will do all the work for you, it's what everyone is doing, I just wish that, for the sake of good manners if nothing else, you'd have enough respect for your interlocutors to call it what it actually is.

leftoids really are immune to leaving the house arent they lol.
meanwhile milquetoast libs are organizing millions of people all around the US to protest agaisnt trump

What is this nervous breakdown about

>>716951
Those people are mostly leftists.

>>716951
millions of people and nothing nada zilch to show for it

>>716977
>heh, protests? im a revolutionary radical unlike you pussy libs and will stay home posting about the revolution instead
>t-ten million people?…. u-uuuhh t-thats nothing we couldve done better if we were in charge anyways, plus we would be more radical and would do strikes and shit, dont ask how, we just would ok

>Meanwhile you accuse me of achieving nothing but I've at least specified the problems and called on us to reject the orgs
>and called on us to reject the orgs and people and ideas that keep absorbing time and attention and resources from all of us despite actually doing nothing,
So nothing then? How is your post not just absorbing more time and doing nothing?
> while all I took from you was at most two minutes of your time.
Yeah, but you think you're the first person to do so? I'm not going to say you've done any damage with your post "demoralizing" or "blackpilling" but until you come up with altertnative, your idea is completely half-baked and really doesn't do anything more than nothing.

I went to some of those No Kings protests just because my friend invited me. I just stood in around in a large crowd outside of our State Capitol building. I couldn't even see the stage or really hear them most of the time. I never been to any protests before that but I'm a millenoid. I guess I kinda "marched" in a BLM protest before like back in 2014 during the first BLM wave, and that was just because me and my dad were out eating at a restaurant and we saw one of these marches going by by chance because some mentally ill failson Black dude got killed by a taser after his parents called the cops on him in a domestic dispute I think like a few weeks previous in my city.

<It's true because it is!
Nahhh. I don't think you're doing anything better. You have to make a case for that.

More like imageboard users. This is really a useless medium yet here I am wasting more time and energy on it. C'est la Vie.

Looked it up. Apparently he was living with his girlfriend and apparently he was the one who called the cops on himself.
