He honestly ruined the reputation of communism forever.

If I had been there it wouldn't have gone down like that

>this is somehow bad
How can anyone watch this video and not wish for his return?

How dare you! GO TO GULAG!!!

You got what you wished you

this man is responsible for 90% of anti communist propganda

He wasn't perfect but honestly most of the bad shit said about him is outright literal OSS and CIA manufactured propaganda

The USSR was based during Lenin‘s and Stalin‘s reign. Anyone who disagrees is a colossal lib.

Nah, stalin was just an easy target

If he wasn’t around the west would’ve found someone else to propagandise against

The entire project of the USSR was a miscalculation that significantly delayed (maybe doomed but probably not) the building of world communism, and I don't think a succession of bonafide Lenins would have made it any less so.

How do you figure?

The Bolsheviks expected revolution to spread through Europe soon and then when it didn't found themselves having to rapidly progress through all stages of capitalism to establish a basis for actual communism without abandoning their every principle by just becoming liberals, and even if this mission had been held in good faith by all subsequent leaders it had to be accomplished in one of the worst places in the world for it. They did an impressive job and had many incredible accomplishments but the actual task was nearly impossible and even if it had been done better every mistake would have been held up by the already wealthier and more powerful West as an example of the failure of communism which is what the OP is ultimately complaining about.
China has a much better shot at pulling off the whole "party-controlled industrialization to then build communism" thing but whether they intend to/actually will is a whole other can of worms that would derail the thread so let's not talk about it.

A good example of an eloquent bullshitter.

this is my take. it was bound to fail from the very beginning. if you go back and analyse soviet history you'll see just how unlucky they got, and then, to top it all off, they had to face a genocidal war machine which destroyed their economy and demographics

Xi Jinping fixed it

Anon, the industrial revolution started just a century before the Soviet Union formed. To transition from primitive communism to slave economies took humanity millenia, to transition from slave economies to feudalism took another couple millenia, to transition from feudalism to capitalism took another millenia. That Marx and Engels dropped their theory at the beginning of capitalism proper and that only half a century afterwards the Soviet Union existed remains one of the biggest outliers in the history of humanity, you wouldn't believe. The Soviet Union is directly responsible for the victories in China, Korea, Vietnam and Cuba, all of which are still ruled by communist parties waiting for their chance to go mask off again.

This also isn't a case like Italian merchant republics trying to survive as islands of capitalism in a world of feudalism, China is the world's biggest economy, and the future climate collapse will be the biggest opportunity at world communism, besides colonizing space and outliving the inefficient capitalist systems.

This may be true but you're slightly glossing over the fact that nearly every socialist in the late 19th century genuinely thought socialism would come within decades not millennia.

Leninism ruined the reputation of marxism and communism

I prefer Jadey Anh

We are not in the late 19th century, thoughever.

Can I just stop everyone for a second and point out the elegance of Xi Jinping's solution?
