Why is such beauty not produced anymore? What was in the water of mangakas in the 80s and 90s that they produced such fire?

Miura literally worked himself to death drawing like this, for one thing.
You can still find manga with good art, but that requires a great deal of effort both in the actual creation of it and even more so the practical training that precedes it. That's difficult to accomplish on the sorts of budgets and schedules that manga artists are expected to work on, and like the previous poster mentioned Miura paid for it with his life.
If you want higher quality art in your manga it's gotta be divested from the profit motive, otherwise it means relying more heavily on the cgi and no doubt soon the AI slop that we're seeing now.
he died
Yeah I’m fucking upset too. It’s been months before chapter 381 releases if it releases. The world forgot about this legendary manga
Because most mangaka who draw very elaborate and detailed art don't see 1% of Miura's success. and recognition He was one of the lucky ones and he still more or less died for it. You're better off in the long run creating something cheaply done with enough flavor-of-the-month appeal to make you money. It's an ungrateful medium.
The art for "Koudou ni Hattatsu Shita Igaku wa Mahou to Kubetsu ga Tsukanai" is pretty good, especially for an isekai.
>>28121The guys continuing the story make no sense
You flip through the pages sofast now
Its lazy af, idk why they take so long to release shit anyway
>>28132I respextfully disagree
>>28119>>28127Its not just the art, but also the story, the characters, the themes etc
Berserk is mid and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
There's plenty of good looking manga being made, you just don't read them.
>>28138it feels as if they just don't know where to take the manga without miura, which is somewhat odd as one of the guys working on it is miuras closest assistant
>>28141name me some of the 'plenty of good manga' please
Berserk volume 1-16 is out of this world.
volumes 17-27 is good
after volume 27 it gets kinda mid ngl
>>28143my personal theory is that the guy did not get much information from Miura about the future of the manga. Maybe just a few vague comments on its end. I think he positioned himself as the 'heir' as he knows it's a hell of a job to be the storyteller of berserk. The klnd of job that he will not be able to get from ground up, by himself.
In short, he is a careerist. Miura is Guts, he is Griffith. He sacrifices Berserk's quality for his personal ambitions.
>>28145you are kinda right
But the art about Berserk is not just that it is detailed. Something about it, it just 'feels' right. I have seen other super detailed art which comes off as 'robotic'.
>>28141>>28145These posts ring as pretty hollow when you can't point to concrete examples of this Berserk-level stuff that's supposedly being made all the time.
Also, Miura wasn't just a great artist. Obviously there are still great artists in manga. But at his peak his linework was uniquely meticulous, precise, detailed and clean. Stuff like Vagabond or Blame! might come close in terms of detail and density but there's still an obvious difference. They just don't carry the same sense of crispness, volume, or visual depth.
Does this make Miura the GOAT by default? Obviously not, there are other things that matter and simpler art styles can be just as good in their proper contexts. But he did something that will not be replicated.
>>28149Well I don't know any maximalist stuff but I like the art in Hello From Halo Head, planning to make a page on my neocities where I index webcomics I like, I'll try to mention them here too.
Not a comic (well it has comics but I haven't read those yet to vouch for them) but Arknights has some pretty detailed stuff.
>>28143>>28146I think Mori actually did get more or less the whole picture for what Miura intended, but that most of the sovl of Berserk is in the details. People glaze Miura for how good his art looks but they tend to undersell how good he was at the storytelling part. Maybe instead of training his studio to perfectly do the shading on Casca's butt, he should have been teaching them how to convey the story like he did.
>>28149>But he did something that will not be replicated.Maybe it shouldn't be. He literally worked himself to death.
>>28153Mori's story is not making any sense sorry
>>28154Most mangaka work themselves into ill health, but most of them also don't produce anything that will be worth remembering in twenty years.
>>28114because it has ntr
>>28257Thanks man I'm going to check this manga out
>>28257nice decor but the eyes are too big Yugoanon
>>28150Uygha you did not just compare artwork for a gacha game with Berserk. What the fuck is wrong with modern anime fans.
>>28315High budget art exists in it's economic context. If it's a casino that greenlights something, that's fair game–for now, when china finally gears up into full-socialism I imagine a lot of these gacha games will drop the gacha nonsense and switch to unlocking characters through challenges and stuff.
>>28121>the ppl taking over berserk are trumptardsContext?
O BEHELIT, I SACRIFICE TRUMP TO REVIVE THE BERSERK THREAD
I don't understand why people love Berserk so much. Its kind of mid. Just a worse Devilman that gets so boring after the bit with the Inquisitor who's veins all pop out when he gets angry. Also no ending.
>>29205Trvthnvke. Berserk gets very mid after this arc.
>>29205common maoist L
fuck schierke and her little witch girl bullshit though
