You guys have to check out terraforged + distant horizons man. This shit is so cozy.
I personally enjoy Arborea + Arborea saplings, and Incendium: Biomes Only.
I played a bit with distant horisons but fussed too much with trying to get it to work with shaders, should give it a shot again since I'm not playing with shaders lately.
>>38017Shaders or no shaders, the terrain is still beautiful. It’s like adventure time
Thats a great combo.
You need to check out Chunky to pregenerate chunks, I'm currently generating a 20k times 20k world so that my 1024 chunk views look amazing.
(The savefile is currently 20gb at 60% done LMAO)
>>38180If you use chunky and preload a chunk radius around your spawn then no, it is just more performance costly because the chunks can have 2000 block high mountains.
>>38197There’s also the limitations of distant horizons to consider man. There’s a certain number of chunks you can’t render and it isn’t high. If I recall correctly, someone standing at see level can see everything 5km away from them. In Minecraft, this view distance is far lower even with LOD mods, and higher render distances cause exponentially increased performance losses.
All this shows is how much of an empty nothingness this game is.
>>38201Not really. The scale is preferable for immersion reasons. I hate how cramped and ‘theme parky’ most games today are. No room to reallly take advantage of how expansive game worlds can be. You’re only walking from one level to the next in most games.
>>38200Those screenshots were taken at 512 chunks distance. One chunk is 256 blocks square. One block is one meter. The chunky pregeneration was at around 5k times 5k chunks. Over 120 FPS.
1024 chunks view distance is still over 90 FPS, at that point it would be a view distance of 262 km.
>>38206Interesting, the limited view didn’t make it feel that way. However, it is still impressive knowing you even got images like that. My PC is frying trying to run JJthunder
>>38212Interesting. Anyways, I decided to try a play through of the mod. I’m getting daggerfall memories. I spawned in a snow biome and walking across the terrain or riding on horseback is giving me daggerfall memories. Even the enemy spawn placements remind me of having wilderness mods applied to daggerfall.
Ok seriously, thanks to the guy for recommending JJthunder. I really feel like Minecraft is at its most appropriately paced when travelling through the over world. Not only is horse travel way more immersive like in Daggerfall, the actually journey feels both relaxing and somewhat engaging.
