Roleplaying game developers need to force players to start walking at a normal pace again. There is no greater feeling of immersion created than by simply walking through the barren wastes of the mojave man with your sniper ready for any caravan or raider passing by.
>>40225>Roleplaying game developers need to force players to start walking at a normal pace again.Yes and no. It totally shouldn't be possible to just press an icon on the map and get transported here instantly, that's kind of lame. But things like portals, wagons and mount riders should still teleport you to your destination, otherwise they're kinda pointless tbh. Same with side quests: there should still be the "Kill X enemies" quests but they should be better integrated into the setting and the combat and enemies should be more engaging and these quests should be more unpredictable. For example, you go to kill goblins but you find out that there's also an orc who starts immediately attacking you. Or how about getting rid of the enemy counter altogether? The quest should just be "Save the village from the bandits" or something. Spider-Man did it well.
>>40229>they need to add bigblackcockTrue.
>>40238My version does give AI that skill actually. I just give the boys a greater detection and combat range so they shoot more. Obviously creatures including death claws cannot do shit if I decide to snipe them like in real life.
Also that style actually makes sense given that it’s fallout. Fallout one was like that and so was two. Three and four forgot to make environments barren again.
>>40242No I know what you mean Anon. I mean that both that type of fast travel and the instantaneous “you don’t need to search for the shortcuts” type of fast travel were demanded to be removed from some of the older 90s and 80s era RPGs back then.
Like fuck, I still remember when people still wanted flying mounts fucking deleted from WoW
