>game has multiple political factions
>game has anarchist faction
>gamers insist it is not an anarchist faction and that the character is secretly always working against you
Why can I name many such cases? I think with Yes Man especially it is laughable, he's physically incapable of betraying the courier, even without "word of god" it's pretty obvious that wild card depends entirely on your character's actions.
Are players just incapable of believing anarchy is possible, even in a fictional setting? Is that why the NCR is the most commonly picked faction?

I thought the Followers was the anarchist faction?

Yeah, and a follower is ultimately what reprogrammed Yes Man, who's moreso a METHOD to achieve Vegas independence.

Yes man is clearly dissatisfied with yesmanning the courier in some cases which implies he might be planning to keel haul courier at some point. He may not be able to say no to the courier, but what's stopping him from getting someone to reprogram him again or the likes?
But, peoples' political believes tend to be reflected in games. The wildcard imagine-your-own-ending is often used in a "ooh I became mr. house, but good" style without much attention paid to the anarchist salvation army. And if your imagination isn't good enough it's a choice between killing everyone, ncr or legion. The ncr being the most normal and progressive out of these makes it an obvious choice for an average liberal. Most simply aren't anarchists.

I mean that's the general appeal of wild card, I just think that when the finale of the questline is called "no gods no masters," there's really no subtlety as to it being the anarchist route for the game. Sure you could be a massive cunt and just be a worse house, but that's all down on the courier you play.
I moreso said this because people say the same thing for other anarchist-leaning factions in other games, or at least the closest approximations, for the liberal establishment. One example is VTMB where their reasoning is as silly as "they were mean to me when I first entered the bar."
It's just an odd trend that's exclusive to WRPGs due to how they let radically different thinking players do their own thing. I just find it interesting.

He implies that he changed his programing so that no one else can walk up to him and make him do things

the pre-10s wrpg scene is inhabited by a vocal minority of rightists and most who played these games back in the day were not anarchists regardless. not that interesting imo. now what is interesting is that in the hit slav rpg xenus the communist guerrilla faction was so well liked modders made a questline extension for them that included taking over the government faction's town, and was so popular in fact that it got added to the official gold release of the game.

Now that IS pretty interesting, though that probably falls more down the line of eurojank RPGs like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., where from what I can see, the reasons people don't side with Freedom are less petty than "they shit-talked me in the bar." The fact it's all mostly within chernobyl probably makes it easier for people to think outside the box and really experiment with their favorite faction there…that or get smashed to death by bolts.

I was actually told in confidence once that Ian Miles Cheong was once a prominent regular at RPG Codex named Exitium before he became a massive rightwing personality and a shill, and I also noticed there's just seemingly a lot of very loud fascists in the cRPG community in general.

stalker does something very subtle, notice that in all 3 games (soc, cs, cop) freedom only uses nato weaponry do I need to mention what nato country their uniforms are based on?

>robo-army dictatorship is anarchist

>>42147
I never side with Freedom because their "the zone belongs to the world" is functionally "recreational nukes and self defence anthrax".
The zone produces bio, physic and physics warping weapons unless you are so lolbert you unironically want recreational nukes it needs to be controlled.

but what if you can make money smuggling artifacts for the west, have you considered that

I thought anarchists were retarded from going to their assemblies and having to watch them waste time discussing irrelevant shit but online ""anarchists"" are absolutely fucking worse.

Destroy the securitrons at the fort then, bleh
