i think you'd get more biters if you had a more unique game jam category that also didn't rely on being a member of a pre existing fandom

You should have done more research on what game jams are like lol. "Make a tribute to another game" is like the least interesting way to do it. Half the point is the different ways people can interpret a prompt. Basing it on an existing game narrows the possibilities a lot when the idea is to have them be broad.

There’s a new mod that adds the freelooking mechanic from ARMA:

There’s another mod that allows you to actually aim properly, as in the exact position that your in game firearm model is in is where bullets will shoot out of—also like in arma but also in games like insurgency:
