I did not care for it.

The gameplay loop is fun and the graphics are cool enough; the story and Borderlands-tier dialogue aren't.

Body is still too short or empty, are you kidding me? What more do you want me to write here? I don't have anything else to say. Is this long enough? Can I just submit this post already? Come on, man.

The main character should have been a woman and it should have been disaster yuri.

I thought of this exact game a while ago. I would've gone for a much more simple execution tho.
>the story and Borderlands-tier dialogue aren't.
All that weirdo hentai bait stuff I wouldn't have thought to do.

Just finished the final episode.
Kind of disappointing. Out of 8 episodes, story happens in the first and the last two, the rest is just hanging out with these characters, and that is where the game is at its best, fully embracing that this is a horny self-insert fanfiction. The writing just isnt good enough to make story interesting or emotional moments impactful. But I am on second playthrough already, just to see what happens if I pick opposite decisions and fuck up every single gameplay segment.

Still, I would recommend it. It is short and fun.

I heard it was a super hero management game. So is it really more just choose your own adventure or a management game?

Choose your own adventure. Gameplay segments consist of QTEs and some light management and hacking minigame. For most of the playtime you are just watching superhero cartoon and occasionally picking dialogue choices. When I finish the second playthrough I will get back to you whether the success or failure of gameplay has any impact whatsoever on the story. Up until episode 6 it didnt, but maybe there will be different endings.

WARNING: KIND OF SPOILERS
Ok, finished my other save, and then tried different ending choices with both. So to summarise what affects story in any way:
Quick time events do literally nothing.
Dispatching sections in all but final chapter do nothing, other than being opportunity for leveling up heroes, and the only impact of final dispatch segment is whether or not you can pardon the ex-teammate at the very end of the game.
Choices usually have impact only on couple lines or slightly change a single scene, the "important" choices with more consequential outcomes (i.e. changes multiple scenes) are:
>Chapter 3
Who do you cut from team - will change who will stay with you and who joins the antagonist.
>Chapter 4
Who do you go on date with - picks which character will you romance
>Chapter 4
Who do you let join your team - gains new team member and couple scenes with them.
And lastly whether Invisibitch will kill the antagonist or takes a bullet for you depends I think not on any single decision, but whether you picked sufficient amount of supportive dialogue choices over the course of the game.

Overall, the story is 95% identical no matter what.

So who did you guys romance? I went with Invisigal, her playful bitchy attitude is fun.

i got frustrated with the gameplay portion of the last episode and just quit. watched the conclusion on yt. 5/10 game tbh.
a lot of groan worthy quippy marvel style dialogue. chase almost dying didn't feel as impactful as the writers no doubt intended it to be. and it felt weird that the rest of the z-team where angry at invisigirl for getting him injured. i just didn't feel that there was that much of a rapport between them and chase. i think they could have been more transparent with what each stat meant. in particular vigor and combat where sometimes confusing. when something required strength it wasn't clear if the game wanted the vigor or the combat stat.
as with any game of this type no single choice can be too consequential otherwise it would exponentially increase the amount of work the developers would have to do. if you are aware of this limitation it kinda informs your expectations for the consequences of any decision and drains the tension.
i went with invisigirl and fired sonar and hired waterboy

One thing that confused me was that the way episodes are structured makes it seem like each takes place in a single day, one after another, so the etire story is told over a course of little more than a week. But appereantly no, by the end of the game Robert was supposed to work dispatch for months, which might be some sort of explanation for why Z-team suddenly cares for doing things by the book? But yeah, its bullshit, there was no rapport between them and Chase. Invisigal is the only one we ever see him interact with, and all those are him being a dick to her. This game attemping to conjure up drama always falls flat. The same goes for the forced firing of team member in episode 3, it completely torpedoes team morale, exact opposite of its stated goal, but the game never gives you even as much as a single dialogue option to protest.
Oh and the ending of course, when Shroud holds your dog hostage, as if you dont have a guys standing around who can move at supersonic speed, punch his lights out and carry Beef to safety in half a second.
Those are the three big moments that stand out as particularly badly written.
Given the commercial success of the game, hopefully the devs will be able and willing to give it an actual gameplay and plot branching in season 2.

Blue pill me on this, do your choices really matter besides the romance?

Well I liked it… But also been shitposting on /v/ like I used to because of it.

I'm a blonde blazer glazer.

another reason the narrative didn't really work for me is the way the game presents the workplace environment. i comes off as if the writers genuinely believe some corporate propaganda. maybe one of the head writers held management position once and genuinely bought into all that team building corpo babble bullshit those types are trained to spout. solidarity might form between workers of teams like the zteam but would never include the middle manager. matter of fact animosity towards the manager is a big reason solidarity is formed between workers. so i just couldn't buy when robert would give inspirational speeches to the zteam and he wouldn't just be met with anger and eye rolling. if robert wanted to make himself one of the team he shouldn't have bought into the philosophy of 'the weak get culled' that his bosses convinced him to buy into.

but i don't know i'm making complaints about realism about a video game about super heroes
