i'm thinking of buying it, looks very nice and stuff
what ya'll think about the game, has anyone tried it already?
any cool mods you've seen yet? personally i want to make a mod about weapons
but i'd love to see a mod with realistic terrain + a mod to make ships
I think the artstyle is neat. Definitely trying it once I have money for it.
It's good, reminds me of old Minecraft. I've been playing it for almost 20 hours and the only thing I did was refurbish a old structure into my house, it's great.
I just hope the devs do figure out roadmaps after years of feature creep and development hell, I was a teenager freshly with highschool when this game was announced, now I'm old… Is that how star citizen players feel? Anyway:
Great game, nice, cozy, has potential.
Worth the price? Eh, sure.
>"i'd love to see a mod[…]"
The game was made to be a modders paradise, considering it was made by Minecraft modders and amateurs, wait 2 years we'll see the first big mods coming up nicely, I hope.
what's the difference between it and minecraft?
>>45516In-built modding API, parrying-based combat, a bunch of QoL features out of the box. Runs on significantly lower hardware requirements then current versions of minecraft, etc…
>>45517Interesting, I will monitor this game.
>>45517It's cleary something the devs envisioned as a "sequel" to minecraft, but honestly it feels more like a reimagining.
Plus the QoL stuff, which is great.
jenny mod hytale status?
>>45618There's forums like nexus and loverslab but yeah it'll probably need to be a modrinth type of deal to get people to shake their old habits of going to curseforge first and foremost.
For now I doubt browsing with ublock and downloading stuff will profit them much as long as you don't actively give them content.
>>45621I just joined a team to make the first and definitive firearm framework for the game
idk how "giving them content" gives them money but if they have like a referred/partner program i'll try to convince the team to go with a Patreon for snapshots and patreon addons instead.
>>45624Hope they release the native mod browser before we release our mod
>>45493it just sucks how lazy mojang is, minecraft would be so much better if they hired more modders. hytale is what minecraft SHOULD have been
>>45637minecraft prints a gazillion dollars so they have no real incentive to go through the effort of making substantial changes
>>45644>i'm not like the most experienced programmer, but as a modder i never stopped hearing about how much of a hard time a lot of modders had with the way Java handled thingswell minecraft java doesn't have an official API so mods rely on crap like reflection to change stuff, also java in general sucks no wonder it's going the way of the dodo
>>45644>>45651>minecraft java doesn't have an official API so mods rely on crap like reflection to change stuffThis right here is the problem. Java itself actually defines an API for loading plugins:
https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/api/java/net/URLClassLoader.html >>45652btw vidrel is supposedly still in development although with Valkyrien Skies devs potentially being hired by Simon Hypixel i wouldn't be surprised for a industrial revolution update who knows what will happen to the Minecraft technical community.
I'm getting close to the community in order to try and organize what will be the technical community to focus on frameworks over a million mods that do the same.
as for now we've got through our first roadblock and will soon start doing our first proper tests, if everything goes right we'll start sharing actual feature prototypes
just hope the Hytale mod browser is already up by then so we don't have to upload it to CuckForge
>>45658we're evolving, just backwards
(pole cannon model is from another team member, i'm giving him a few pointers to make the texture more detailed)
>>45658shoots way too fast for those pistols, isn't the fantasy of old school guns also to do le funny 3min reload ?
>>45748our animator just made a quick draft with an existing weapon to test the firing animations
we're getting new interactions done such as new reloading mechanics, aiming down sights and stuff like that.
we should start testing with those in a bit.
>>45749not quite the fire lance yet because Hytale doesn't has fire mechanics yet, i'm also waiting for those to make Byzantine fire grenades.
Apparently official support for Linux is only flatpak which I despise but
https://github.com/amiayweb/Hytale-F2P/releases/tag/v2.1.1 this exists. Does anyone know? Considering buying and I really hate flatpaks
why play hytale when open source mineclones have existed for ages
>>45776i have played both of the most popular games on luanti and they suck
hytale has had 8 years of financed full-time gamedevs working on it
>>45774It's on the aur.
There's the zip linked in this json:
https://launcher.hytale.com/version/release/launcher.jsonCan't figure out from my browser history how I found this, but that should work.
I ended up resorting to using the flatpak on NixOS though since steam-run wasn't getting the right GTK stuff.
>>45776Luanti is fun too, but I like hytale for different reasons. It's more of a 3D starbound than a minecraft.
>>45779>https://launcher.hytale.com/version/release/launcher.jsonThanks you very much for that link, I am on xbps so the AUR is out of the question
I wonder why they don't let linux users whi are quite techy on average download that. I hope they don't remove this json
>>45774you vill run zhe appimage launcher
