noticing a lot of "retro" game stuff on youtube, facebook, etc. tends to fall into this trap of just pumping out AI slop (be it through remixes, goonbait, video thumbnails, etc.) I think in part it's the same thought process of "this makes me happy just cause it exists/reminds me of better times" that also creates things like fanart, fangames, remakes, challenge runs, etc. (and if the audience doesn't care about quality, they'll surely click your shitty Suno-genned city pop remixes), partly also that the lower technological/financial requirement for say, playing Mega Man X on an emulator means you reach plenty of people that don't really care about having anti-AI sentiment, partly also that it's very rare to find anyone that cares about games beyond immediate gratification or nostalgia value and will also write or make interesting stuff from them. Also, after 20-30 years, i imagine the "novelty" of genning slop makes them feel like they're sparking light on a thing that is otherwise dead, lol.

It's just really sad to me since this series had such a nice community back in the day. They were out here doing like 3D animations before PSO came out, actual fanart (pic related), fanfiction, it all looks so much more human than what it is now.
Like I can't in good will look at some douchebags praising some AI slop bullshit recreation of the PS2 title screen, which actively takes away from the original art (because AI prompts are specifically coded to draw women a certain way), as anything other than sheer irony.
They literally exemplify everything the original game warned us about, but they can't see that because they literally don't value old games, they only like them BECAUSE they're old. If they came out today they'd probably never even glance at them.

Fire Emblem? Convoluted gooner slop and the gooning is behind seven proxies of requirements anyway.

FF Legends/SaGa? Nonsensical resource management and non coherent threat levels proportional to level or assumed level. (But still turn based because easier coding)

Earthbound? Take the worst elements of FF Legends and now make it insufferable. Reddit of course praises it.
