So does anyone know why exactly every Phantasy Star related forum is full of AI bullshit now? I swear, at first I thought it was just the subreddit (because of course it would), but other places like the pscave forums have AI art bullshit plastered everywhere, and even searching for youtube remixes leads me to AI music.
I'd talk about the irony of so much AI garbage being made by the community, when Phantasy Star 2 especially is so anti-AI, but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Like is everyone who plays these now just utterly, creatively bankrupt?

noticing a lot of "retro" game stuff on youtube, facebook, etc. tends to fall into this trap of just pumping out AI slop (be it through remixes, goonbait, video thumbnails, etc.) I think in part it's the same thought process of "this makes me happy just cause it exists/reminds me of better times" that also creates things like fanart, fangames, remakes, challenge runs, etc. (and if the audience doesn't care about quality, they'll surely click your shitty Suno-genned city pop remixes), partly also that the lower technological/financial requirement for say, playing Mega Man X on an emulator means you reach plenty of people that don't really care about having anti-AI sentiment, partly also that it's very rare to find anyone that cares about games beyond immediate gratification or nostalgia value and will also write or make interesting stuff from them. Also, after 20-30 years, i imagine the "novelty" of genning slop makes them feel like they're sparking light on a thing that is otherwise dead, lol.
