The only lies on my resume currently are stretching the length and responsibilities of roles I did undertake, but generally I abide by the rule of thumb that jobs that are older and less related can be lied about with greater impunity. Use companies that have gone out of business to lie about completely.
It depends on the level to which you're applying to how well it will work, but generally the worst that can happen is that they don't hire you. Apply to as many places as possible so it doesn't really matter.

with fully automated resume screening & filtering by experience/age at HR side it's becoming extremely hard to get an entry level job with 0-3(!) years experience whatsoever for actual money as pay, even for min wage
in my country there is a "community" that promotes & teaches about lying about your own experience on the resume and how to "prove" it without getting caught (IT field, too)

I might have lied on my resume, then I forgot about the lie, then I got a job at the place I forgot I lied about working at, then worked there for cash for a couple of months. Butcher shop. When I worked for Uber, I took a break and went to visit, but when I went there to go to the toilets I thought I was using for months working there they weren't there. Where was I shitting? What was I doing that whole time? FUCK! One of the guys there was deaf, the other guy sort of looked like a guy I saw in a nightclub promo photo who caught him with his eyes closed looking like he was rolling balls - he called the boss a Jew, one guy was big and fat and was into baby metal and once threatened me with a knife, and there was a girl there with red hair and blue/green eyes and she wore batman earrings. There was a half empty vial of green liquid on top of the phone. He asked me if I could lift a whole side of a pig off a hook, I tried but I couldn't.
I saw one job advertised asking for 5-10 years experience coding in a computer language that only existed for 2 years.
I got fired a year ago from an IT place and went total neet mode for a whole year, now I need money and I'm considering lying about the date I left the job, dunno
