you will just be out of a job and unable to get a new one or pay for these things. Itl go little by little though so when it happens to you god forbid, maybe you have peak job security, itl just be the same old tale of someone losing their job and needing to put their nose to the grindstone if they want out of the mess. Except one day there will also be no "way out of this mess" on an individual level. By the time there is an issue to our ability to get food or power we will already have long dwindled and moved on this isnt a collapse in my opinion where any of these things will be directly "taken away" from you. Itl be like the sly turned red and the moon exploded and yet there really isnt anything we can do about that so we all just go about our lives for as long as possible trying to ignore it.
Maybe better than a collapse id call it a cascade or something because we won't be in "post capitalism" itl just fall from the sky above into our lap. If you still have power and food and your work still has power and food you probably will go about your days same as always, like you are doing now! If you have friends even better. Thee elite liquidate asset owning middle class via insider trading or really just the banal fact that capital and the stocks ups and downs orbit the ultra wealthy at an increasing rate that a middling financial advisor can not keep up with or guarantee any longer that "the stock markets always up long term" even if it is. It still is but is increasingly not a valid promise of security regarding the middle classes few hundred thousands. They will likely see the writing on the wall and panic at the writing on the wall before anyone, hate to say it. Because yeah this is no traditional collapse, and to be frank if you are OP I still stand by you in that its not a collapse that has anything to do with partisian politics or peoples views on sex and its not because of our personal ideological disagreements and while I think fascism and racism are serious problems the crying and screaming that this era of capitalism we are in is "fascist" is a disservice to just how unique capitalism is. We easily could have had someone like mamdani run for president and get elected and while that would make me very happy and for me housing insecurity is a real likelihood in the distant future, capitalism would mold and shift to be forward facing "socialist capitalism" instead of forward facing "fascist capitalism". To get back on track if you have some middle class friends or trust fund friends (who a sizeable minority of which will not be having kids) its highly likely they cash out on their liquid assets within our life time, and decide what matters most is to "share the love" and I think that could jumpstart or at least keep alive an economy for us comparitively poors. Those of us without 10 million or more, which sounds like a very high ceiling but trust me maybe not within our lifetimes but soon enough you will have real trouble figuring out what the difference is between you and anyone in the tens of millions bracket or lower. Even landlording the favorite occupation of the almost almost wealthy is being overtaken by billion billion dollar companies, one day you and the person who shops at erewhon to avoid the poors will both be paying rent or at best a mortgage to greystar or black diamond or whatever the fuarrrk.
Anyways you probably arent gonna buy any of this I just think if you are OP or at least you agree with OP on some level you look around and see a hyper reactionary world and you know its retarded. You know maybe the most ethical thing to do of anything right now is to not buy into the vitriol and hate and doomerism but also keep in mind people are individual pure beings who generally are doing what they think is right but collectively they are like a moldable fluid. What you are reacting against isnt individuals with a poor mindset its an outrage machine that makes a lot of money out of thin air. You wouldnt be needing to clarify this if it wasnt for the digital world and overload and commodification of every bit of information bo matter how insignificanf. If you somehow posted this up somewhere in a pre internet era no one would know why you felt a need to post it up. This negativity media cycle and information overload with everyone clamoring for more information thinking if they or others just knew a little bit more if they share that post about gaza something will happen all of that, and subsequently AI as a result having a place to feed from because of all this, its maybe the single biggest achievment of capital ever. Large sums of money and server farms are banking on this machines continued survival and engagement is vital to it and all of this engages. So if you are resisting it and saying focus on what you have whats around you whats real, in my opinion, thats a kind of anti-capital praxis you already are practicing whether you want to call it that or not. Which means on some level you must also see how its dangerous, and how it could lead to this collapse or "cascade" otherwise why not choose to believe everyone is hyper extreme to one end or the other and you have to pick a camp and advocate for it and everyones out to get you and the streets are overrun with harlots and the government is overrun with fascists and the educational system is overrun with marxists and yada yada. You know it isnt healthy, it isnt good for anyone mentally, im sure you know or have seen that whatever your moral or political mission in life that posting and sharing about it constantly has the opposite effect of just making it weak impotent and inneffectual. This is all to say you dont need to in reaction to the reactionaries decide absolutely nothings wrong when the times you are implicitly or explicitly rebelling against with this rhetoric are a byproduct of whats wrong (or you could say whats right).
