American ML here, moved to china a few years ago, been doing the privileged ESL job thing. currently working at a gov uni for like 1700$ a month teaching 16 hours weekly while i study chinese and try to get out of english teaching with hopes to start a family and raise some red diaper kids, but im plagued by a sense of guilt. Is leaving the US behind the cowards way out? Am I abandoning the a righteous cause or a sinking ship?

Jannies can delete the duplicate /labor/ thread

Feel free to ask whatever other chinese labor questions you got too

I'm still trapped in this shithole, I am too old to start a new life anywhere, and I say good on you if you like it there. I don't know if China is that exciting to me from a political perspective because I'd always be an outsider no matter how well I learned or tried to assimilate.

So have you met any other MLs there or studied communists?

>>2222
white monkey jobs pay 1700$ now? crazy.

I have a STEM Bachelor's, the economy is down the toilet and my gf of three years just left me. I am seriously considering applying for an English-speaking Master's program there. Apparently even top-tier Chinese universities have laughable entry requirements for foreigners, or at least Westerners, for these programs.

>>2224
This is a 16 hour a week oral teaching gig for a public uni, its the lowest effort and lowest paying type of job. Common for profit teaching jobs go up to 4000-5000$ a month, but those are high effort kindergartens or rare international schools in BJ, SZ, SH, ETC

common white monkey makes over 3000$ still. Illegal russians and africans do too

>>2226
Damn, that's crazy. So how was the process of moving there and getting the job?

>>2223

yeah lots of em, some jaded maoists, ACP crypto bros, oldhead wobbly->stalinist types eager to jump into a russian verse and tell me how they used to live with Utah Phillips, a real hodgepodge

some people are playing it up for the chinese social media, but a lot of em are playing it down cuz red doesnt sell here and its generally bad for most careers.

even got into a scandal with a previous gov uni job cuz my (loved by everyone) 60s green mil/redguard halloween outfit went viral on local social media and my students doxd me for clout, which the school were afraid would bring bad PRA

>>2227

you meet someone on a sketchy chinese job site and they forge documents for you

if you have a bachelors degree, you do the same thing but they just embellish the documents instead of completely forging them

Sign a contract, get a visa, fly in, get a permit to stay, work until contract over, then get a new contract or renew, repeat visa renewal from HK or in the mainland

>>2225

gov scholarships end at 25yr but tuition is rarely over 1-3$ per year, lots of private scholarships too. most public unis have non western foreign student programs, it wouldnt be hard to find something

>Is leaving the US behind the cowards way out? Am I abandoning the a righteous cause or a sinking ship?
The kinds of people that say this shit also do nothing IRL, so their "courage" is meaningless. You shouldn't consider yourself a coward, you should consider yourself lucky you got out from under this before things go to hell. Wish I could join you but China wouldn't take me because I'm an unemployed autistic pleb with an associate's degree I never got to use.

they can make good money and that can be sent back to projects here, we get funds from people like this, and they have be instrumental in our success

>Is leaving the US behind the cowards way out? Am I abandoning the a righteous cause or a sinking ship?
No, choosing to leave a country during times most unrevolutionary is acceptable from the perspective of refusing to participate in its society. Neither are you selling your labour to the imperial bourgeoisie nor are you paying your (full) taxes to their state.

Fuck that guilt shit.

In any case, get a factory job on the side. You'll actually meet proles and see their struggles under a state directed market socialist DotP, plus you get to meet women.

>Is leaving the US behind the cowards way out?
normally I'd be saying yes but american communists need a certain level of engagement with countries like china and vietnam, you are in a unique and valuable position

>>2222
I don't know or care if they're cowards or not, they're not however read.
Nobody cares what you believe in your heart. If you ain't even trying to change shit and instead just taking a PMC computer job wage then you are not a leftist in any tangible way.

>>2236
t. PMC computer job wage laborer

This thread is cringe and weak

Wait, how the fuck are you posting here if you actually are in China? The firewall surely blocks this site, so you're already breaking the law by VPNing your way in here, which would be an odd way to show your approval of the place.

the only thing stopping me from moving to china is their insane drug prohibition. will the government really put you in a uyghur death camp for one joint?

>>2239
>The firewall surely blocks this site
4chan isn't blocked, why would leftypol be?

>>2241
4chan isn't blocked in China? How the fuck?

>>2242
the firewall is mostly there to ban the big social media sites

>>2240
Yeah you better stay the fuck out KKKracker we don't want your druggie ass anywhere near our people keep your fucking drugs out of our socialist paradise bitch.

>>2239

Misconception. VPNs arent banned or policed heavily unless youre a business, a political activist, or a known criminal.

"Great Firewall" is more like a fence to denote chinese internet sovereignty. A cycnical person might liken it to a cattle fence, not meant to truly cage, but to encourage staying within bounds

>>2243
>>2242

4chan might not be blocked in china, but 4chan does IP block chinese IPs, unless you pay for 4chan Premium.

>>2240

they deport your ass immediately.

Although there are stoners here. people smuggle in gummies and vape carts all the time, and its kinda as rare as coke back in the states. Like you could find it if you look in the right places but its all word of mouth local connections

I wonder how many westerners live in China nowadays?
Do you ever see any other crakkkers out there?

I ask because I used to be in touch with a (almost certainly schizophrenic) American Texan NEET woman who moved to Jilin with her equally clinically insane Korean-Chinese husband.
From what I remember they met while both working as expats in Seoul and both experienced pretty harsh racism from the South Koreans.
Somehow she managed to pick up almost native levels of Korean and Mandarin, idk how.
In any case, I think westerners moving to China for love rather than work is exceptionally rare?

Also, from my understanding you can still legally get North Korean brand instant noodles, microwaves, electrical appliances, etc in Jilin. DPRK cigarettes aren't officially permitted in China any longer but you can still get them on street markets in Korean speaking towns.

>>2247
>they deport your ass immediately.
how often do they enforce this, though? if you say there are indeed stoners in china then surely it can't be that big a priority.

>>2249

They aint hunting for drug users, even the mandatory blood and piss tests foreigners take just test for diseases, maybe harder drugs

although they do randomly test you if you come back from thailand, which ive nevr been.

also random raids on seedier nightclubs

Enforcement is both looking for criminals and punishing them when found, China doesnt look much, but will reliably deport you if you somehow out yourself like a retard

>>2248

Most foreigners are non western, but there are 2 others at my job

most "whites" here are slavs

>>2249

I should note almost all stoners here are westerners or people selling to them.

You're withholding taxes from Porky

>>2234
you're talking about meeting proles like it's going to a safari when they're everywhere

>>2222
> Is leaving the US behind the cowards way out?
Maybe you shouldn't take responsibility over entire countries. Focus on your own life and do what you can for the revolution.

>>2226
>common white monkey makes over 3000$ still.
Surprisingly high considering how little locals make.

>>2256

yeah avg person makes 500-800$ a month

but the average farmer/worker is not a foreign import worker for a for profit bougie rich kindygarden

>>2226
Im American, but it possible to learn this power without a bachelors?

>>2258
If you like living as a visa criminal, yes. Private schools here will help and enable this, but will cut you off when it benefits them. To live like this is to live outside the workers protections, free gov attoerneys,, government moderated arbitratiob, insurance, pension programs foreign workers get. You also live with an unending risk of being deported or needing to run away.

I reccomend applying for a chinese uni
