Please don't say "latinx", it's an ableist term as many neurodivergent folk can't spell it

Say "latine" instead, it's gender neutral and neuro inclusive, thank you ❤️(Gringo Thread)

fr tbo like I'm pretty sure latine predates latinx by a good decade at least. Latinx feels like it was made in a lab to make people stop using latine.

>>1191
Don't think anybody but feds say 'latinx' anyway

File: 1732069417620.png (80.81 KB, 225x225, ClipboardImage.png)

i've never heard someone use "latino" to refer to themselves in real life, for me that's just an internet thing until i do

latinks stinks

this is idpol nonsense and should be banned

latino twinks. latwinks.

communism is when useless word plays

>>1223
You are a bigot

How do you even pronounce it in spanish?
latinques?
latinequis?

>>1231
latinjs

>>1231
you don't. there's no convention for how to pronounce "latinx" in spanish because it's almost exclusive to anglos, but some people choose to read the written "x" as "e" when it comes to gender inclusive nouns, so you'd end up reading it exactly as OP proposes, latine

>>1233
latinjavascript

>>1234
Omg so it's literally just non-phonetic for the sake of being non-phonetic.
Oh shit this could be related to the war on phonics eduction.

>>1191
"latin" is also gender neutral, technically genderless

>>1223
Thing is, people are so brainwashed nowadays by idpol that you gotta at least offer them a less offensive, less-bullshit alternative.

Latine is stupid. But at least you can fucking READ it. "Latinx" by contrast is absolute bullshit cooked up in a lab (probably a meth one) as this guy said >>1192

Latino is the correct gender neutral term in Spanish, but at the very least Latine does not make dyslexics & other people go mad.

>>1252
latino is masculine gender

>>1253
No, because the O is neutral in Spanish. Even the fucking RAE understands this, and it's literally the only thing they get right (otherwise they just enjoy adding literal misspellings to the dictionary).

If you want to say "Todos estamos presentes" ("We are all present") even if you are all female or transgender or whatever, that is grammatically correct.

But most people even myself will accept the E. The X will just make whoever uses it look like an idiot.

>>1254
uhm nao, o "O" no espanhol é masculino e neutro ao mesmo tempo, que nem no portugues, nao é completamente neutro.

it is both masculine and neutral at the same time, not just neutral.

>>1256
True, and I'll accept that correction.

>>1256
>spanish masculine gender is simultaneously masculine and neuter
smh the woke mafia made spanish masculinity semi-agender

i just treat the latino vs latine vs latinx shit the same way I treat the native vs. indigenous vs. indian shit where I wait until I figure out specific nationality/ethnicity they belong too and use that instead of even bothering with the vague ass multi continent spanning term that lumps a huge amount of people together.

>>1191
gender neutral words and pronouns are working class struggles
SAY IT

>it's an ableist term as many neurodivergent folk can't spell it

latin, latine or latini; latinX is just another product of woke porky ideology and should be cast into the toilet along with mX. and every other buzzword

>>1289
> Proceeds to lose the ballots to the literal embodiment of evil incapsulated in a neoliberal ghoul

>>1294
everything is ableist if you think about it, installing gentoo is ableist, building your own cross compiler is ableist etc..

>>1230
and you are a faggot

>>1323
Go away homophobic bigot

>>1300
"yo soy latin"
"eu sou latin"

works

>>1195
I've only heard porn addicts use Latina irl maybe because I'm not american

>>1195
>>1396
the few times anyone i know has actually talked about it they'd just say "i'm from [insert name of place]"

>>1193
>Don't think anybody but feds say 'latinx' anyway
Them and DNC staffers.

>>1195
It's mostly an american thing. There's a certain context in which latinamericans call each other latinos, in most cases its not a word that's really used. Unless you're in the US where everything and everyone is constantly racialized.

>>1252
Your seething is irrelevant and autistic. The 'x' is used and you can seethe your prescriptionist bullshit as much as you want. It doesn't change the fact.
>>1287
Gender neutral Spanish has been used since before "LE WOKE MOB WAS RUINING TRVE SPANISH".

Even the most reactionary idpol obsessed misogynist would not bat an eye at " latin@" which is the historic gender neutral way of writing "latino and/or latina". Change the "at sign @" for an "x" and culture warriors, even self proclaimed socialist culture warriors lose their shit. It would be hilarious if it weren't tragic.

And to be honest, the reason I hate the self-proclaimed socialist culture warriors who seethe and churn when an "x" is used instead of an "@", or when the "e" is used and pronounced, is because I was also once a socialist culture warrior back in 2015-16 when idpol was at its highest. It's so easy to get lost in the sauce with culture wars.

>>1283
it was always like that, até no português também

Or, since you are writing in English, just write "latino" because it is gender neutral.
As weird as it may sound, gringos say "latino women", as an example.

latrine is the xorrect xerm

>>1360
e looks more flush with the rest of the word than @ tho, plus it's kinda hard to make small like in a ruled notebook.

>>1442
latin@ what? horsefucker.org?

>this fucking discussion again

>>1191
i'm mexican and i like using latinx because it makes chicanos and right wing americans mad.
i think the arguments against are also dumb af
>omg you can't read it
read the word x-rays
>omg it makes no sense in spanish
we're speaking english

>>1448
latin@ is the original gender inclusive form and i've seen it since i was a small kid in the 00s in mexico

Why do I feel like I'm taking crazy pills that I'm the only one who found the perfect solution.

>No it's O!

<No it's X!
Why not neither…
BOOM

>>1463
Oh, because @ looks like an "a" inscribed in an "O".

>>1464
exactly

Always felt like when americans say nobody outside of US cares about this stuff it seemed entirely disingenuous, because as far as i'm (euro) aware, Mexico is at least pretty 'progressive' within segments of the society and institutions a lot more so than USAasia and Spanish language academia in general far more so than anglo academia. If that make sense.
And i'm thinking of like the 90's and 00's, way before every american started screaming about idpol.
Maybe it's like your guys 'unisex bathrooms'. in europe we always had these for various good reasons but now the amerians are mad and they started to call them 'gender neutral toilets' we're supposed to pretend like it's the literal the devil because idpol or something.

>>1463
>latin@
how do you say it though

IS IT SO HARD TO USE THE LETTER E?!?!?!

>>1504
the only way for a word to be gender inclusive is to not include any gender at all, such as in >>1464 >>1325

words shouldn't have genders.

latrix

>>1360
>Your seething is irrelevant and autistic.
Who's seething? You?

>The 'x' is used and you can seethe your prescriptionist bullshit as much as you want. It doesn't change the fact.

The X is only used by idpolers. Regular people on the street, (most of the ) workplace, country, city, wherever do not really use it. It's simply not as easy to read or make sense of, simply as that.

>Even the most reactionary idpol obsessed misogynist would not bat an eye at " latin@"

Because "Latino@" was an old early Internet way of trying to be inclusive and type less, like saying "Latinos y Latinas" by compressing it into a single word.

>>1464
This is also fine and everyone people I know would be okay with it.

>Please don't say "latinx", it's an ableist term as many neurodivergent folk can't spell it
Actually it is ableist because it requires knowledge of algebra.
The correct way of saying it is within the phrase "latinx where x can be any letter".

t. neurodivergent folk

It's also the correct way to say it in English. I don't know where google is coming up with "lateen" but Latin is a noun and an adjective like American is obviously.

>>1191
>many neurodivergent folk can't spell it
as a babbling retard i and 90% of the neurodivergent people i know (INCLUDING THOSE WITH DYSLEXIA) can spell latinx wtf r u on
i agree with the sentiment since the e makes more sense linguistically but the reasoning is fucking dumb
