Lot's of "first worlders" move to the global south and feel more "alive" in a sense, and they're ready to change completely their mindset and lifestyle. Some third worlders complain about living in a fucking jungle and dream about moving to a country like Germany or Japan because they're supposedly more civilized or something.
If you feel like coming down south, you're welcome I guess. You're in a comfortable position if you earn dollars, and I'm sure people will treat you well. I'm sure you'll adapt quickly.
Now, if we're talking about guilt, just don't. You shouldn't feel ashamed for being American, specially if you're aware of Imperialism and all that shit. Only Israelis should feel ashamed of their existence.
