I am not Latin American and I live in the United States, I’m only asking you guys because I was wondering what I should think because I usually thought that it should even though I know it never will. But I thought I should ask what the other side thinks first.

Ideally, after the revolution both the US and Mexican nation-states cease to exist and the whole deal is rendered moot, but none of us are living to see that.

No. Engels wanted this to be American land.

Give it to Mehiko and then what? Cartels run the show? No thanks.

>>15082
No he didn’t

>>15083
What if there were no cartels? In this hypothetical would you want it?

Give it back to the indigenous peoples.

Then why bother thinking about it?

>No he didn’t
Yeah he did.

The 2nd generation + Mexicans here don't want to live in Mexico. The rest of the latinos here don't want to live in Mexico.

Frankly, the Mexicans got off easy.

>Polk himself grew frustrated with the slow pace of negotiations. By late 1847, he actually recalled his chief negotiator, Nicholas Trist, because he felt Trist wasn't demanding enough land. Polk was interested in pushing the border further south to include parts of the Mexican states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, and Coahuila

>Trist ignored the order to leave Mexico, and wrote a 65-page letter back to Washington, D.C. explaining his reasons for staying.[9] He capitalized on the opportunity to continue bargaining with Santa Anna offering $15 million. Trist successfully negotiated the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo on February 2, 1848.[10] Trist's negotiation was controversial among expansionist Democrats since he had ignored Polk's instructions and settled on a smaller cession of Mexican territory than many expansionists wanted and felt he could have obtained. A part of this instruction was to specifically include Baja California. As part of the negotiations, Trist drew the line directly west from Yuma to Tijuana/San Diego instead of from Yuma south to the Gulf of California, which left all of Baja California as part of Mexico. Polk was furious, but reluctantly approved the treaty since he wanted to have it signed, sealed, and delivered to Congress during his presidency. Trist later commented on the treaty:

< "My feeling of shame as an American was far stronger than the Mexicans' could be."[11]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_of_Mexico_Movement
>The All of Mexico Movement, or All Mexico Movement, was a political movement to expand the United States to incorporate all of Mexico.[1] It was a controversial aspect of Manifest Destiny that was unable to garner enough political support to encourage adoption. The Mexican-American War (1846–1848) brought the United States and Mexico into conflict over various geopolitical issues, including a desire to invade and annex much of Mexico, that resulted in victory for the United States.

>After the US Army took Mexico City, there was renewed enthusiasm for incorporating all of Mexico. There was fierce opposition to the idea within the U.S. Congress over various internal political disputes.

I can think of hypotheticals, I just wanted to know what the general consensus among Hispanic and Latino people is and if it was moral for the US to take it.

>consensus among Hispanic and Latino people
Why would any Latino of non-Mexican heritage give a fuck about Mexico and whether it had its territory from the 1800s? If they wanted to live in Mexico they would live there. Think that applies to most Mexicans too.

This whole question is retarded because it's like debating the borders between Canada and the USA and if they're fair. Dude, these are all settler colonial colonies. The Mexicans stole the land same as we did. No honor among thieves dude. Can't cry about getting your shit stolen if you stole it in the first place. I mean the Spaniards were sometimes like a little nicer to the natives? Like by comparison to the genocidal level of the USA? The Spaniards south of the boarder have 0 valid claims on the land. The natives of those lands have claims and they are honored some what. Whether it's Spaniards or Anglos ruling them matters not at all in any kind of conceivable "moral lens."

They wouldn’t, I know I said “consensus among Hispanic and Latino people” but I should of said Mexicans, that’s my bad 100%
>These are all settler colonial colonies.
That’s true… I have no follow-up, I’m not here to debate after all.

>>15120

>land back

i read once that american schools dont teach about the war with mexico because they cant possibly justify it since its such an obvious example of imperialism. is this true?

>>15153
re-kulakization, but woke

>I’m only asking you guys because I was wondering what I should think
Sapere aude motherfucker

>>15154
In my experience yeah, I wasn’t taught about it at all and I was only ever taught about how bad 9/11 and Pearl Harbor were

Conquest is a normal part of history, some people win and get more territory and other lose. Just because that land belonged to Mexico 100 years ago doesn't mean it belongs to them, they conquered it from some indigenious tribe and these tribe got it from someone else. The land should only be returned if the people that lives there want it.

>>15151
spain should be returned to the arabs

This, Spain and Portugal are rightful Moroccan soil

>>15159
