>>2299253>This is true, but like losing is how the dems win. I always forget those types of details. That's how they have been "winning," and that's their current plan. This February past James Carville published some op ed in NYT about how the Dems can't do anything to stop Trump, so they shouldn't [
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/opinion/democrats-trump-congress.html]. Just lie down and "play dead" until voters get fed up with the Republicans and have no choice BUT to vote for them out of desperation.
One of the problems with this though is that it fundamentally misapprehends who their adversary is and what to do about it. They might win the battle of the next election this way, but they're already on their way of losing the war of getting, using, and keeping political power.
I think what we're seeing now is the emergence of a new class of bourgeoisie that are not only ultra wealthy, but possess or otherwise monopolize control over industries that are both too big to fail and too massive to reform. Worse still, this section of the haute bourgeoisie is ideologically motivated by total disdain for the bourgeois political system and democracy as we've known it.
Trump is just the face of an effort to radically transform not only the government, but the entire political structure of the US, and consolidate power in corporate, CEO hands. If the Democrats are even aware of it at all, they have no ideological or political answer for it. Even if they do "win" subsequent elections, it's doubtful they'll actually do anything to reverse what Trump has done because the net effect is going to be "pro business" and the bourgeoisie as a whole aren't going to reverse the trend of increasing their corporate power even if the end result is their collective subordination to a new class of ultra wealthy billionaires. Ultimately there's nothing they can do to stop it because it isn't a result of the political system, but the economic one they relentlessly safeguard. Musk, Thiel, Bezos, and these other billionaires are just going to keep getting richer and more powerful, so it doesn't matter if their monkeys get voted out in this election when they can just count on buying the next one, and that the Democrats won't do anything to stop them in the meanwhile. Shit, that's what go us here, now. The Democrats knew full well what Trump intended on doing, and instead of taking any steps to head him off at the pass, they just ran the latest in a series of the worst candidates in history and lost.
If you ask me, the Democrats have already lost. They just don't know it yet.
