I thinkwe should have this discussion because as
>>2360781 said this behaviour is not good for the site
>>2360793this kinda behavior should be:
>>2359735all its missing is a soyjak image.
and also this: >>2360006 tbh sry/not sry >>2360804If anything mods should clean up your shitty
>>>/meta/ whining and off-topic spam.
>>2360793>Unironically should assholishness be worthy of Mod warning?I think so, at least on the discussion boards. I think the general rule of thumb on any forum should be "does this encourage participation or discourage it?" If someone's posting is just making a place unpleasant overall to be in, is quashing discussion instead of encouraging it, and doesn't ultimately lead to anything that makes leftypol worth using, then why tolerate it?
Someone called expecting a modicum of politeness earlier "bourgeois civility" or some shit, but that's not what this is. "Bourgeois civility" is when you enforce the use of genteel tones to control what's talked about and how. A forum though does require some level of
working civility though because this is a collaborative effort, and just being a thoughtless asshole that makes life unpleasant for everyone else degrades that.
>>2360793Awesome, at this rate we're going to have mods banning people for using the R-word. I don't trust mods to even be able to separate what's someone being abrasive for trolling purposes and someone insulting someone else for being wrong, considering the ordinance meant to deter ACPtards from talking endlessly about baristas ended up with people getting banned even for posting Marx.
Funny how the grifters pushing for leftoid unity are the ones restricting the site the most.
>>2361329What do you care? You'll just switch nodes anyway.
All it seems to be coming down to is the socially maladjusted losers that can't live without being shitty on a forum and the posters that are tired of it. So you want to be a shithead and call someone a retard. Then what? You get banned for a day? And that's so terrible you can't deal with that? It doesn't even prevent you from reading the threads.
It just sounds like you're more interested in having a captive audience to be a dickhead to than actually having a functioning forum.
>>2361334>muh netiquetteJesus, this analogy sounds more like projection. Pretty sure we're all adults here or at least I hope so and should be able to handle criticism, even non-constructive.
You can always hide and filter posts too if it bothers you that much. The rules are already quite arbitrary and you want to give even more leeway to moderation?
>>2361347If you're wrong and confident about being wrong then expect to get called an idiot. And this would happen IRL too.
>socially maladjusted losersEven more projection. If you need some niche imageboard to be your replacement for not having friends you're better off actually leaving your mom's basement.
>>2361349If you're an adult then what's your problem with the expectation to act like one? The question was
>should being an asshole merit a warningAnd you're acting like people are calling for gestapo rule of the forum.
>>2361354So to you being an adult is just the license to be a dickhead however and whenever you want, but you can't be a fucking man and deal with being banned from an internet forum when other adults have had enough of you? Yeah, it's definitely everyone else that're the basement dwellers.
>>2360793no, definitely not. idk what the solution is bc i think the change is due to no longer having immediate common enemy due to proximity to 8/pol/ etc. and also just bitterness of us all getting old and almost seeing nothing but defeat, and the fact that what used to be constrained to /pol/ is now all over twitter and considered socially acceptable among many.
but no you cannot make a rule that says people have to be nice to eachother thats a terrible idea and would not work. at the very least it would be beneficial to site culture if people so inclined took initiative to discuss things in good faith and push back against debate addicts & other retards who act like being constantly obnoxious and needlessly combative is good for anything besides a temporary dopamine hit from typing things at a stranger
>>2361914for the record, even if that "worked", making /leftypol/ into an r/communism type fake-friendly echo-chamber and stifle the remaining dynamism and fun of the site. theres already plenty of completely sterile socialist "communities" like that on the internet, /leftypol/ is supposed to be an alternative
im not saying arguing or insulting shouldnt be allowed or even that they should be discouraged. individual posters bickering is one thing, but when threads are consistently killed & discussion completely derailed by completely humorless, self-serious posts that are usually just recycled strawmen and quasi-identitarianism: x is for spoiled westerners, y is lumpen degeneracy, z country has repressed communists before/has a domestic liberal movemrnt so if you want to discuss it in any depth you look like *this*, and this kind of shit gets a ton of reply that are basicslly the equivelant of upvote or downvote
